I used the same paint technique as I did on the armor for the belt and gauntlets, basically light washes of brown-black, turquoise and a tan-turquoise highlight / wear pattern color, hitting the indentations or depressions with the darker colors and the lighter colors where wear would occur.
Here's the belt with the dark applied in half of the picture:

Gauntlets while I was painting them:

After painting:

Of course most of the top will be hidden by the forearm armor, but oh well.
Unfortunately discovered the teal belt greeblies were a bit small for the belt so will have to redo those, but better that than the horrifying amount of sewing to redo the belt. _________________

Made some progress on the holster today. I used vinyl:

And foam:

I used barge cement to glue the vinyl to the foam, then sewed over them both:

I am waiting for Chicago screws to arrive to finish getting the strap and the holder part of the holster installed. But, considering it's some vinyl and foam, I'm pretty happy with it so far:

Finished up the holster. Inserted Chicago screws and magnets and barge glued the holder part of the holster together.
The back is pretty messy but no one will be looking at that:

The front looks pretty decent for foam and vinyl:

I scratched up the Chicago screws a bit as they looked way too shiny:

Because the vendor making the replica fabric has been not producing due to the pandemic, I decided to see what I could do with a Cricut and heat transfer vinyl.
I purchased the vector file on Etsy, and spent approximately 3000 hours weeding. I will try transferring it to some scuba fabric tomorrow to see how it looks. Hopefully I will discover ways to be more efficient at weeding.

Here is the HTV on scuba fabric. I need to pick out the random cat hair. LOL _________________

Ok, finally have a moment to update. I ordered boots from Amazon and sent them to someone to be altered. They came out great:

Also finished the undershirt. I purchased a snap crotch bodysuit and removed the sleeves. Had I been smart, I would have purchased a long-sleeved bodysuit and spared myself seam ripping serged Lycra seams, but oh well. I cut new sleeves that were longer and wider out of black Lycra and used Weltfill to make the ridges on the sleeves.

And got a few more of the greeblies to paint, and redid the belt greeblies at a slightly larger size since the first ones appeared too small on the teal belt.

Currently working on sizing the vest, and of course still working so very slowly on weeding HTV... _________________

Finally back into this. Hoping to get pretty close to finished in the next few weeks.
I ended up taking the belt down 1/2" because it just looked too big proportionally for me (I'm 5'1"). I then put velcro on so it can fasten, velcroed the holster to the back on the right side, and velcroed on the greeblies.

Ignore my crappy mirror, black belt being on the wrong way and weekend clothes, but I think the scale is pretty good.

I don't have much to say about the black belt. I pretty much followed the tutorial I listed before for belts. I'd like to remake it with better vinyl one day, but it's decent for now. _________________

This vest has been absolutely my least favorite part of this project so far. I did about 5 mockups in muslin, then a mockup in scuba fabric, then made further adjustments until I believe I have arrived at the right pattern. I am waiting for puff HTV to arrive before getting in to making the final.
I think this was the final muslin mockup?

Why does this vest have SO MANY PIECES?

Why do the pieces have so many princess seams?

Finally faced the HTV vest.
I did the side panels first. I used a Cricut to cut the HTV template, weeded out the unnecessary parts, then ironed on according to directions. I decided to do it on the cut pieces so the lines would line up as per the reference images.
IMG_3779 by SumTotal, on Flickr
I discussed the custom fabric pattern weeding nightmare earlier, but I ended up using every 11x11 square I had weeded to cut out the vest pieces (I think it was 5). This means I have to weed so many more for the pants, which I am dreading. However, I think the appearance is pretty good. There are some irregularities due to the Cricut and me not lining things up precisely, but considering the obstacles, I think it looks passably close the the screen used fabric. That being said, I'm not sure I would recommend this method unless you really don't want to buy the Parallel Life Studios replica fabric or use the Yaya Han fabric. It took at least three hours a sheet to weed, so at five sheets we're at 15 hours just for that, not counting cutting it on the Cricut, or the sheets I started weeded and gave up on as too many of the wrong pieces had peeled off (it's all very small and fiddly). However, when I started, PLS was not producing due to the pandemic and now I feel committed to finishing this absurd task.
