I absolutely love this costume. Of course, I'm in the mad dash to finish this before the premiere. Or, a reasonable facsimile thereof.

Good detail photo of the cloak fabric:

It appears that there is some sort of metallic/lurex thread woven into the fabric:

Since I am still in search of a good fabric for the cloak, I started with the grey dress. This is a lovely knit fabric find from Joann's. It's just needing some finish work.

The fabric is a medium grey in color:

A wee bit more lighting - shows more of the detail:

Looking great, I hope you find a nice fabric for the coat in time.

Thank you, Obi Anne!

I do have some fabric that may work in the interim. This will give me the opportunity to do a version 1 before I find the 'real' fabric.

Can't wait to see your finished dress! Leia Buns

Best of luck. Smile It's hard to do costumes when there isn't too many references around.
I hope you find a good fabric for the coat.

This is our current reference gallery: http://www.senate.rebellegion.com/?portfolio=leia-organa-the-last-jedi-grey-gown-and-coat

If you spot new references, then let me know, and I'll be happy to add them.

I didn't see the third photo in my first post in the reference gallery. Feel free to add.

Thanks!!

It looks like you are missing the front seam in your dress- it should be down the middle front. Looks great!

Should be a simple enough fix. (Famous last words.... Laughing )

Thank you!

This is my V1 of the coat. Or as I call it, my 'stunt' coat. (For next week's premiere.) A fellow Rebel is helping me with my fabric search for my V2 coat. (Although, I do think this fabric is pretty darned close.)

Sorry for the poor quality of the photos. I just can't get good shots of this one.

How fun!! I am so jealous you will have this for the premiere! For V 2 I would try and make sure the pattern lays like squares not diamonds when cut- what is right is so hard to know without the moving being out!

I agree that it's so difficult to know what it actually looks like without seeing it on the big screen. Some of the photos have good details, but it's never the same as actually viewing it. (Think back to the TFA General Leia - is it grey, is it green, is it gray/green, is it sage? Sigh...)

Funny, I kept going back and forth on the layout, and was actually going to lay it out that way - would have been on the bias. I can definitely do that with V2, if I stick with this same fabric.

Also, this is the reverse side of the fabric. Wink Much better than the front side.
