Hello there!

As I was gathering reference images for Leia in the flashback Jedi training scene in The Rise of Skywalker, I formatted them according to the new standard format in a google doc. It's currently set to "anyone with the link can comment," but if you'd like to help edit just request access and I'll add you. As a note, I included the images (not just links) in the doc as that made it easier for me to reference during my build.

The forum usually likes to eat my posts when I try to do anything more than simple text, so I'll start copy and pasting the sections from the google doc.

Character Description
Leia Skywalker Organa Solo, also known as Leia Organa for short, was a Force-sensitive human female political and military leader who served in the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Imperial Era and the Resistance in the subsequent New Republic Era. Adopted into the House of Organa, the Alderaanian royal family, she was the Princess of Alderaan, a planet in the Core Worlds known for its dedication to pacifism. Organa was raised as the daughter of Senator Bail Organa and his wife, Queen Breha Organa, making her the heir to the Alderaanian monarchy. Instilled with the values of her adopted homeworld, Organa devoted her life to the restoration of democracy by opposing authoritarian regimes such as the Galactic Empire and the First Order.

Wonderful start to this! I know this will help a lot of members who are eager to do this costume

A couple things to note, for the sleeves I'm not sure I would put pleats as an option, as from the shots given they are clearly quilted, and very pronounced as such.

Also for the helmet, it seems to be a modified A-wing helmet. That should help give a base to start with detailing in the standard. They've added a back so no hair is shown, and a visor for training. The back they've added looks like something similar to Endor Trooper donuts, where its a quilted/pleated soft cap. Unsure which they did here as it's hard to see.

Glad to get the ball rolling on this one!


I totally forgot that as far as I can tell, the markings and shape of the helmet match the one Rey uses-- which has much clearer images!



Hmm, I'm having trouble seeing the quilting. The way the shadows fall in some of the screenshots, like this one,


Reminds me more of the sleeve detail on the snow speeder pilot:



I'm concerned that it would take a so much stuffing/batting to get enough dimension with the quilting to match that level of shadow that the sleeve would end up falling/laying weird.

But I've been staring at these images for so long I'm having trouble "seeing" stuff at this point haha!

Yeah these references make it difficult, and staring too long does not help lol

I'd say that pleating could work, but we should mention a thick fabric to be used. Quilting could work best because of being able to layer it more easily than finding a thick enough fabric to pleat. Also noticed bloodstripes are mentioned as an option, I would stay away from that wording as someone could try the same type as Han's pants and these are no where near the same thing.

Is there any writeup for the rank badge she wears? It's noticeable but and out of everything has the best shots, but I couldn't find the details listed above.

Also to help with references, I would use this photo for the pants as well. It shows the color the best against the rest of the costume!

So from reading the standard proposal, a "silver bladed lightsaber hilt" is acceptable. Are we not requiring the exact saber for this costume? I mean, I'm all for it as I already have a silver hilt and saves me time and money but just wanted to clarify as I am sure others may have that same question.
