You guys might have heard me mention that I need to get a Prequel trilogy costume so that kids actually know who I am at birthday parties, etc. I have decided with Wullf Yularen in his Clone Wars cartoon likeness. I am ordering a gray imperial officer uniform from china, and then I will make the rest of the changes myself to conform to the RL requirements. If you dont know who my character is from the cartoon, you might remember him from ANH.

Interesting choice, Tom. But be wary from ordering something from China/Asia. Sometimes you get something good that needs little modifications, and sometimes you end up spending more because it needs a LOT of tweaks to it.

on second thought i'm not gonna go with this costume because in order for it to be approved it has to be gray. I watch the show all the time and it looks green to me, even the action figure is green too, but the standards team insists it's gray. _________________

Well I've decided to buy this instead of gambling with my monies on ebay.

I can make the nessessary alteration to the uniform by myself.
So now i just have to wait till december when it's released, it should allow me enough time to grow a mustache
Finally i have a character from the prequel era _________________

But that's not a prequel costume, Tom. And if you were going to modify it yourself, that's a big risk to alter something that pricey, plus both the look and material of the OT costumes is very different from the ROTS/CW version:

The black lining on the chest on forearms I can sew on easily as with the epaulets. The boots are funky; I'll have to be creative.

It seems easy in theory to alter it. But it looks like a completely different cut of suit. The OT version goes over on one side with snaps (see Kathy's Comic-Con photos). How about closing the collar? And please don't go by the action figure as a reference! We've gotten so many reference photos, someone will eventually make a pattern for it. I say you're better off making it from scratch.

I wouldn't buy anything from him. I think he was the same guy who used a photo of my Luke costume in his auctions, claiming he made it. _________________ "You like me because I'm a scoundrel."

There were a couple people in So Cal working on the ROTS officer, but that project has kinda stalled. _________________

You are so funny. I will be working on these soon.
Anyhow, let me get this straight Tom. You wanted to buy a regular imperial costume and modify the front into the episode 3 uniform which has the horizontal seam across the front correct? There is no way you can cut into an existing blazer and expect to make a seam without extra 1 inch of fabric for allowance. Once cut, you have to sew the seam together which will take away 1/2 or 1" of excisting fabric which will shrink the size and the top will not coincide with the lining, not sure if you get it but no you cannot do that. If you want the blazer from episode 3 , thats what you have to buy. _________________ In Memory of Chanel Cheri Vanecek 2-7-80 to 10-25-03 |

well, it looks like for the Admiral Wullf Yularen the blazer will have to be made from scratch _________________

I think you should just do the ROTS version. The black detailing on the jacket just seems to be a minor "animated version" difference. No one will tell the difference. Who knows? Maybe at the end of the series, they'll make the uniforms look more like ROTS, or that look will pop up again in the live-action series. _________________ "You like me because I'm a scoundrel."
