Does anyone have any good reference images of the jackets worn by the snowspeeder pilots on Hoth? I want to make a jacket for myself and my husband, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of info out there. Yet. Smile

I am quite a bit behind with making my own...

If you want to, I could email you a ZIP-file with all the images and other info that I have gathered (so far). Be aware that it is a large file.

Apart from the jacket, what differences are there in the hoth x-wing uniform? It seems like only the gloves and boots vary. Is this the case?

If so, what boots and gloves do you have?

As far as I know, that's it: the boots, gloves and the addition of the jacket. Oh, and the flak vest is worn "backwards" from what it is in ANH.

The pilots also wear a soft helmet/cap underneath their hard helmets.

The boots are black RFT/X-wing boots inside the hangar, and trooper boots outdoors ...

No ANH/ROTJ comm pad. Instead, there is a different type of comm pad on the left gauntlet. The same type of comm pad is also on officer's gauntlets. This comm pad is different to what the troops are wearing.
The jacket has a left chest pocket, with a special comm badge, like the Hoth troops. This is not a ANH/ROTJ X-wing pilot comm pad!

Luke's flak vest also has two hooks, in the same style as his lightsaber belt hook, but that is unique to Luke.

Johan, you should set up a website or blog to document all your research, to share with everyone. It sounds like you know quite a bit about the snowspeeder pilot gear. Smile

I was just at Target today checking out some Star War action figures and noticed that Hasbro did a big FAIL:

Among the Rebel Pilots Evolution Version 2 three-pack there is a snow speeder pilot. They got him in the correct boots but they gave him Black gloves... those noobs, Fail.

Does anyone have a source for the Hoth snow speeder pilot gloves?

I think they are exactly the same as the Hoth rebel troopers' ones except for the commpad on it. You can find the tutorial if you go to the "Ice Station Echo" yahoo group.

I found some orange nylon at my local Field's Fabrics that I think is perfect. The problem with it was I think it was all they had left (it'll be a stretch to make a jacket for myself and my husband from it) and it is quilted. But, the quilting seems pretty easy to pick out, so I plan to "un-quilt" it and use the nylon. You can see pictures of it and a bit of my write up on the snowspeeder costume here: http://costumesandartwork.blogspot.com/2009/04/hoth-rebel-snowspeeder-pilot.html
