I'm looking at making this poncho too (great coverup for a few upcoming cons), and found this Burda pattern (B7167, view A) as inspiration:

For the goggles, I have a pair of aviator ones, but after looking at this pic I might look for something else, maybe more steampunk-ish:

It seems like Leia's (and Han's) goggles resemble the ones worn when he was repairing the Falcon in the asteroid "cave".

Hey Sandy, since you're on the council, I was wondering, can the council request standards to be made for this costume? I don't know if you guys are in control of that, but standards for this would be great Smile

Anyone can actually write up and submit a costume standard for a new costume for the legion. Smile
Would anyone be interested in heading this up? I can make sure that it gets sent to the proper people. Wink

Do the stripes on Leia's cloak go all the way around the cloak? You can see them in this picture, but I don't know if they continue all around the entire cloak or not..any thoughts on this?

But in this picture (I know this is not an official picture from the movies, just an artist's) the stripes look like they go around the whole cloak.

That is a very good question. I would think it would go all the way around, but I could be wrong. I haven't done much research on this.

Are the stripes embroidered?

Do the stripes go all the way around? I would say yes.

Are the stripes embroidered? I would say no. To me the stripes look to be either woven into the fabric or painted on. I'll be using paint for mine.

I've decided to use paint. I started with some stencil paint, but it was definitely not a good idea for such large and long stripes. Any good brands of paint to use on the fabric?

Just got an early copy of the Making Of Return Of The Jedi book, and on pages 123, 124, and 127, there are shots of Leia from the sandstorm scene. Wish there were more Luke shots, though. Sad
