I don't have any pics handy... I'll try to get some, but the last lid I did, I did like this:

I lined the whole helmet with car roof liner (a napped fabric with a foam lining). I fit the pieces in by hand and then fix in with spray adhesive. Next I put in some black large over-the-ear ear cup cushions. Then I used an ACH (advanced combat helmet) helmet pad kit (usually available for less than $20 on eBay). I afix velcro on the pad backs so they can be repositioned for best pit, et voila! It's very comfortable, secure, looks professional/finished, allows good airflow, and handles sweat well.
