Your progress has been amazing to follow. Just take what you have written here, shorten it down to its essence and voila! you will have a nice tutorial. Smile

Last wee update for a bit.

The next time you see this particular lid it will be all painted up and good to go (hopefully! Wink ).

After what seemed like and endless series of "trials and tribulations" I finally hit on the penultimate look for those damn double plumes.

Lots of swearing, pledges to the devil, glaring at the damn thing, sleepless nights, a s**t load of cash on various hair care products and god knows how many times I wanted to quit the whole project went into this little addition to my cossies but at last we have finally reached the long awaited final stretch towards completion.

This is the lid as it will be seen when I get trooping in it and like I have said in previous posts this will be painted when I get back from Egypt in early May (depending on what cash I have left!).

I really can't do anything else with this lid so I reckon it is pretty well finished at last and if it was'nt for Pete Stroud finishing up his SG a few days ago this would still be sitting here collecting dust months down the line.

So!Please comment on this, as what you guys have said over the past 11 months (Yikes!I started this nearly a year ago!!) has kept me going.

Next time it will be fully painted and the clearance pics would have been sent.

Many thanks for following this WIP thread.

Thanks Ritin

I got the horse hair from a fellow member over on the Guards site:- Forcepike.net.

I just happened to be in the right place at the right time and I think it cost me £100:00 and that included the shipping from America.

I have been trying to get a hold of her to ask where she got it from but no luck as yet.

Thanks for that Rachel.

Got a wee bit of tweaking to do on the plumes yet but as I said bar the painting this helmet is pretty well finished and I am now a world expert on hair care products! Laughing

I myself cannot wait to see it all painted up with the two plumes attached.

Ha! Any description of a build that starts with "lots of swearing" usually does produce something really amazing if you can stick it out through all the headaches. I can see that you have! Worth it.

Hi Rachel.

Yep!Amy does still make these helmets but none for a bit as she has just recently got married, moved house and so on so a bit busy at the mo as a few folk have been after them but she just has'nt had the time.

She does'nt have her own website but you can catch her sometimes over on the RPF.

Last wee update (been ages since the last one! Crying or Very sad ).

The 'hairy' one goes for painting next week so all goes well the clearance pics will be going in before the end of the month but there is'nt any hurry TBH as this will be getting it's debut at this years Collectormania (Sunday - 25th August to be specific). Got to wait 'til next week as the back and neck are still knackered so driving is really a no-no.

So!The next post will have the lid in all it's painted glory with those damn plumes attached.

Many thanks to Jason Kerr over on the UKG for offering his time to paint this helmet!

Lots of pics to follow!
