Looking at the screen shots, are we 100% sure both shoulders are quilted? I can't find a picture where the quilting shows on the rank side. Could it be like a shooting jacket where only one side is padded?
Also, looking at these, are we 100% certain its stitched quilting or is the fabric over a quilted batting? The quilting doesn't seem sharply quilted like its stitched on the outside.
(brown rank badge? for shots where reflection isn't wanted?)

I think that you can see it in the bottom-most picture. It is very faint, but it is there.
I have a HD screencap from the same scene that I have also looked in, and it is somewhat more visible in HD.
Anyway, that is my interpretation. _________________ Booyegashaaa! Attack the block and the Force awakens. |

Aye. hence my second question. It would have to be the loosest, lowest tension stitch with little to no batting to allow it to so easily disappear like it does depending on position. |

I was unsure about that too...
so I took a couple shots...
and looked at them closely..
and you can see very faint quilting on the other rank badge side too...
I thought I had done a build thread on my Hoth Commander project...
guess I didn't..
go here:

some of what I am doing might be helpful...
dunno..
not saying what I am doing is 100% correct..
but it is as close as I can figure... _________________

I just popped in the good ol blue ray... and you can see it best when Han Solo goes up to General Reiken and informs him he needs to leave Hoth. He shakes his hand. It is at this point you can clearly see that BOTH sides are quilted.
However the quilting is very light on both sides and would recommend very little batting and back off the tension on the stitching. _________________ RL Han Solo Archive and information

great suggestions. Thanks for the input. I'm thinking I'll try with a simple fabric batting and see how it looks as this project proceeds. |
