On September 30, 2012, members of the Corellian Base and our brothers and sisters in the Midsouth Garrison participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Run and Walk in Chattanooga, TN. The atmosphere was very festive and we got to meet many people including those of Breast Cancer Survivors. We had a great time and made lots of contacts. Many of us were out of costume and some of us were in costume and those who were in costumes were very popular by the people who were in attendance; including those of children. We brought many smiles to peoples faces and a good time was held at all. At 1PM the walk and run started with over 5,000 people in attendance all wearing something for the survivors or those who are among us in spirit. There were members who walked the race some even did the 3KM race. Great time was held by all. Early totals has that around $500,000 has been raised for Breast Cancer Research. However, money was still coming in at the time I am writing this mission report. Thank you all who attended and special thanks to the Sharrock Family for allowing us to be a part of their team. I think I shall change my name to "Super Tooper". The whole 5K in armor!! YEAH BABY!!
This was a very meaningful troop. My wife's aunt past away last September 18th due to breast cancer. So that was for her. I also plan on doing it every year for foreseeable future. _________________

WOW. Good work folks. These sorts of troops are always special and important.
We have 2 like this in South Australia each year. 1 is the Relay for Life which is a 20 hour walk and the other one we walk 12-6kms (7.5-3.7miles) from the city out to the bay. There are some others that are done around the country as well. They are always the troops we look most forward to. _________________ "It's not the size of the Jedi or the amount of power running through her lightsaber, but the strength of her heart." |
