Hi all!
I'm Matt, new to building, but I've been lurking for a good long while.
I finally bit the bullet and ordered a set of Havoc armour from Mr Kevin B.
Got my box of goodies a little over a fortnight ago, and then got inundated with work.
So, as I said, this is my first ever build, so I am trying to take it relatively slow, and get it as right as possible.
Again, kudos to the mastermind.
I'll be posting some pics as soon as I am able =D |

Hihi! sorry all for taking so long to continue, But I am here now, and I have progress!
fresh out of the box
Chest and cod glued up
Skip a few steps
And the painting begins
I haven't finished the details on the butt just yet
These shoes cost me $20 from Payless Shoes, and they are perfect (so far)

Looking good! I have one warning about low top shoes though. Make sure you sand up the bottom of your shins really well because with low tops you'll find the weight of the shins will go right into your foot as the shin won't always sit on the shoe and will go inside it. It can be pretty painful!! _________________

I discovered that issue with the shin yesterday actually, so what I did was I used some padding at the front and the back of the bottom of the shin, and it now sits just at the top of the shoe. It also stops all twisting and slipping, so I am counting this as a +2 |

Nice work so far man. So when you hit level 10, are you gonna go Vanguard or Commando? _________________ "Life here began out there, those are the first words of the Sacred Scrolls. Just a quick progress bump. I know it has been a long time, but I am still working on it.
I am aiming for Brisbane Supanova in November,
The perspex I used has been heated and bent into the right shape, and then cut and trimmed to mount flush
More progress pending, Next up is the soft parts for the neck and the stomach.

Hi all! seems that I vanish and get a whole heap done, only to inundate the forums!
Brisbane Supanova is now 6 weeks out, starting to feel the pressure!
Got gooping with the wrists
The orange comes out with heaps of glare in photos.. =/
Got them padded, planning on integrating the gloves
Part of this build that was doing my head in was how to attach the foot pieces to the shoe/boot.... I had a rethink of the shoe.. they just werent working for me, so I cut down a pair of gum boots =p
and made wee booties! XD
Just a rubber strip folded around the boot, and acetone gooped to the armour
These boots were made for stomping!!
heaps of movement, only binds on the hammies
Decided to make my own midsection,
still going to put boning into this front part to give it some body
Pre weathering
I previously got too eager with the belt. Straight out of the box on my first build, I wanted something complete, and shiny, and... well, I stuffed it up. Terrible paint job, so I've stripped the buckle back and re done it.
my tin of gold paint had dried out completely, so I mixed it up with some acetone (didn't have any thinners on hand) and as a result, the paint dried instantly onto the buckle!!
The next stage was to make my own neck seal. I wanted something that looked right, without having to throw money at it.
A $3 sheet of 1mm rubber, a $13 tin of contact cement and a butt load of tape later.... I am pretty impressed
All I need now is to finish the TD, the belt, mid section..... and head myself to Brisbane!
Ciao for now!
Matt. |

It's coming along nicely! well done, brother.
I am just slightly concerned about the orange paint.. the reference pics suggest that it's rather red-ish (or at least dark orange) than orange and you went for quite bright color. Hopefully some weathering will make it a spot on! |

When it gets weathered it cuts the orange significantly =) |

Hi all,
Sorry this is so late in the coming.
My Havoc armour was completed JUST in time to head to Brisbane Supanova.
Got my mid section piece finished
this is my first full kitup =)
got my helmet wired up, fans work amazingly, even in the 40 degree heat of Brisbane.
After having everything painted, weathered and wired and everything, I cracked a wobbly..... the weathering didn't the orange as much as I liked. and after many arduous adventures around Canberra at the 11th hour, I managed to find an orange that I was happy with, and then commenced respraying EVERYTHING!!!
Wore it out on the town for Halloween, scored a free night out =p
Brisnova was amazing, Met a bunch of peeps from the Redback garrison, and the Tattooine base Rebels
And even ran into a Hobbit.

Hi all!
I am taking a brief hiatus from the insanity that is moving house, and I'm going to try and time some space/time to apply for approval.
Has anyone got any advice for a first timer like myself? Tips and tricks and the like?
Much obliged!! |
