Not yet, I want to get the Standard locked-down so that no other changes occur. If we start producing and something gets changed, I'd rather not have two versions out there.

Wait for it, and Stay on Target! Wink

Sorry guys. I only put the prices up there to let folks know what they would end up being if they came from me.

That's why I put the line in there of:
Quote:
If everyone decides these are how they want them done. I can start making them immediately.

I did not intend to start making and selling them until you had a chance to verify that is what you wanted and gave the go-ahead.

No worries Damien, we're really close. Once that's done, we can probably have you put up a thread in the Emporium under the SW Costumes & Props for sale section.

My two yen...

- Sash, about 2" to 2-1/2" wide.
- Should go down the back so it still looks like what it is from behind.
- Black dress slacks, possibly with a black satin stripe down the outside seam.
- Black moc-neck shirt.
- Black dress shoes would look better with pants, otherwise you have that cowboy shin flap when you walk with boots tucked inside.

what are black slacks?
is that the same as a panth?

i had to transelate it into flemish / dutch, but i got all different kind of words, flannel was one of those words ...

flannel panths?
is that not the same fabric as the smoking pants?

That satin stripe it would look cool, you only see this in the first versions of this costume, it was yellow and few in red.

In the second series was the first one a white one ...

In the first version it's indeed dress uniform shoes
But in the second version one had boots ...

I would leave out the stripe ...

Using the dimensions of the pips on the Rank Badge, we've "reversed - engineered" the total dimensions of the Rank Badge. From that we further reverse-engineered the width of the red stripe. We'll probably be going with 2.75" - 3" for the Standard.

I've been watching this one and just wanted to throw this out there while it's in the formative stage:

Most of the illustrations that are really detailed are of the guys. The female pilots aren't shown wearing these very often and aren't fully visible, much less their seam arrangements. Would there be any objection to allowing darts or perhaps princess seams in order to get the proper fitting on a female version?

Lisa, I think that would be acceptable. After all a Dress Uniform would be a fitted garment. I'm not one for laying down the law as far as stitching and seams go. (Flak Vest ribbing, yes, but not this.)

And we might even offer up an INFORMAL-ONLY version allowing for a skirt and heels as some of the pilots in the Legion have had in the past. We'd just have to decide on footwear ... BUT, we're not going there until the actual Standard is finalized.

I'm a bit of a late-comer here to this discussion, but I did have one concern about the red facing/rank badge. On smaller folks, particularly women, even 2.75" is going to look pretty huge. I'm a fairly average-sized woman and I'm only 5.5" from neck to shoulder. I love the badges, and they are gorgeous, and I want one even without this costume already. However, I am thinking of a couple of petite potential Hazards and how hard that size would be to manage. Could exceptions be made to that sizing for smaller people?

That's why I ask Smile Poke it with the pointy stick now, less to get poked about later.

With regard to the potential size issue Jenna mentions, maybe size the red stripe as a ratio of the shoulder? Say 1/3? I'd say the badges should probably be a standard size, they're pretty big but I don't think they'd be overpowering on those of us who actually think there's legroom in the cockpit.

Jenna, probably not - simply due to the fact that were using some pre-existing materials (the rank pips). The measurements Damien came up with are a close match to what's seen in the artwork, esp. the image in the first post.

Fel's football build aside, looking at Wedge, the rank bar does take up about halfway between neck and shoulder. And while sizing of clothing in a military unit would be proportional to the wearer, things like rank bars would be one-size-fits all.

Now in reality, as far as the facing goes, you could probably hedge that measurement and we'd never know in the Costume Judging Queue unless there was a wide discrepancy between facing and badge width. I can't see going much narrower on the facing than 2.5" though.
