Coming from medieval reenactment I love pole weapons.
Therefor I will create an energy pike for my RFT.

Are there more pics out there than this one, showing the RFT energy pike?

I will post my WIP asap, all I can provide now are the dimensions my pike will have:
lengh: 2,5 m
pole diameter: 2,5 cm

The pole will be divideable for better transport (1 m and 1,5 m parts), the "energy part" will be made of a MagLite cap
http://www.amazon.de/Mag-Lite-ASXX07B-Warnaufsatz-D-Cell-Taschenlampen/dp/B0024NLH6M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368526771&sr=8-1&keywords=mag+lite+aufsatz
(lenght 19cm, diameter 6cm) together with a short 10mm pike with LED as the "dangerous end".

Pics to follow...

One pic says more than a thousand words...

This is just for getting the idea. Maybe I will add a second and reversed MagLite cone to make the "energy cell"(?) a bit larger...
Anyway, the bottom opening will be closed!
The small 10 cm long tube will hold a white or blue LED, the on/off switch will be placed near the energy cell. The tip also will get a small dark thickening made of washers with different diameters (similar to the Royal Guard pike tips).
The whole construction will get the pole´s aluminum color with some small dark ring paintings.

This is the 1,1 m long upper part of the construction:

I know that the production pic in the first post shows a more cylindrical shape for the energy cell, but I made some printscreens from the Epi IV scene when the fighters start for their death star attack. There the energy cell clearly looks more cone shaped, so I came up with the above shown idea...

Well, here we go...

When working in my celar I made a nice find - a Darth Maul lightsaber emitter from an old plastic lightsaber. The bigger diameter fits the Maglite cone perfectly and, though not "that" screen accurate, gives the pike a more technical look...
...but I definately will make a more screen accurate second version, too.

The upper part of the pike:

And here the energy pike in its total lenght of 2,63m:

The black tape above my hand shows where the pole can be seperated in its two parts.
Next step will be the installation of the LED for the pike tip...

I haven't come across too many reference photos for the Force Pike

I like the usage of the Maul emitter; it keeps the "in universe" feel. Being able to break it down into two parts for storage and transportation is very important and a very clear idea. Good work!

The enery pike had it´s first public appearance during the international 2. Science Fiction Day at the Prater, Vienna, on june 15th!

During the parade...

The dangerous end...

And it´s perfectly suited for driving the enemy before me...

I really like my pike, it´s easy to carry and sometimes quite comfortable for leaning on it! And of course its....very long & impressive!

Here´s a pic from a european FB group - they used the DVD pic I mentioned above:
The cone style of the top part can be seen clearly here

Thanks for posting this. I can't find anything on energy pikes, other than your build and the pikes with the figures. Wondering how it came out? Was it approved?

It wasn´t necessary to approve my pike as it is only a "nice additional" to my already registrated RFT costume.

Interesting point, maybe a judge could add his/her opinion...

Everyone knows how a DH-17 has to look like, but what if someone only wants to use the energy pike ("a pike weapon") for registration?
This could be an interesting option to save some money - the pike construction always should be cheaper than a DH-17 with holster...

BTW, how do the pikes of the figures look like?

It looks like the pike from the Honor Guard was put with the Sentry/Rebel Fleet Trooper.

http://actionfigureempire.blogspot.com/2011/04/rebel-honor-guard-yavin-good-time.html

So I'm going on the assumption they are very similar, if not identical props in the movie.

In the next two, the tips look the same, while the first one has a more cylinder-ish body, and the second seems more cone-ish (like Okami's).

So my plan is to try to replicate the Sentry Pike for my RFT's Energy Pike for formal approval.

Reading posts on my phone and hitting this thread up. Maybe I missed this somewhere, is the haft of the pike made out of PVC or wood? And how are the two halves attached to each other? I'd love to attempt this project at some point Smile

Okami's pole is aluminum. I might try PVC, but I want to make sure it won't wiggle. Either poles will allow for wires to be sent down to light up the tip (if that is your plan). Otherwise a wood pole would work, too. To connect the two, the use of a screw-joint should work, or something that works similar. Or, if using aluminum or pcc, use a wood dowl to connect the two.
