excellent Bill. Im looking for high-comfort and being able to get something to eat and drink fully dressed.

from looking at other WIP threads I am pretty sure the Norwegian jacket posted in the list above will fit you. Snag the Khaki BDU pants as well.

I think the end of January would give everyone enough time to get the snow parka/ duster and pants in hand for a paint party.

I'll probably get the Swedish or Norwegian jacket, then see what I need to do to make sure it ends at the belt line. Wasn't sure - do I need to keep the drawstring on the bottom?

They all seem to be poly/cotton blend, so I guess I'll be filling a washtub with tea and soaking it for awhile Smile Any particular kind, or is black tea all right? Just need to know if I should get Earl Grey or something Smile

yes, keep the drawstring. from reading other WIP threads I see that the drawstring is a component to the uniforjm, both in the hood and the waist.

The jacket ends at the upper edge og the belt

regarding the tea dye, i found that common green tea does nothing. Early Grey may work, black tea was best for my tusken.

I figure basic black tea will be best - I'm guessing that jacket and pants need to be tan in case (1) the inside is visible and (2) in case the paint doesn't cover 100% or else flakes off.

yes, yes, and yes.
if you go back to (in my case the vhs, cant say on DVD or BR because i found differences between all 3) there is at least 1 rebel trooper that has a tan , unpainted hood interior. This seems to be the aberration and not the norm.

over time the paint is expected to wear in and flake away, it will need occassional repaint.

20% of the uniform should remain tan.

If anyone in the Base wants a bandoleer for grenades/charges, let me know. 20' of 2" cotton OD webbing just came in from WampaWear. he cut me a great price on it. it is the same awesome OD that the X wing leg flare holders are made from.

You will need to get a pair of OD elastic GI vintage suspenders. Get two, they are dirt cheap:

I am in the process of making the grenade/ charges parts to go in the suspenders.

Today at Micheals I found Design Master Moss, Basil and Bright Olive. Hunter Green was absent from the lineup. Holiday Green was preesnt but I need to check on this if this is acceptable or not. Hunter green is readily available as a spraypaint.

Holiday green is one of the colors mentioned to use, like the hunter green it should be used lightly. I would use holiday or hunter along with olive as an highlight with the basil and moss as main to keep the number of colors down so the pattern doesn't get to busy.

ok good deal. I didnt see holiday green listed in the tute, but if its a go, lets roll with it.

I see that the "moss" is a lot darker than I expected it to be.

It is in the standards, so it should be good to go

so it is!
the Tute i have printed out predates the Standards, so with that said, there is enough of the DM paint to do a couple of pieces. I know its going to take a lot of paint to do this.

How much did you use of each color on your parts?

On the tea, what is a good ratio for tea:water? Also, do I treat the tea like dye? Stir the coat around until it gets to the desired shade? I also figure it will lighten as it dries, so it's okay if it's initial darker.

I'm also looking at lab coats on Amazon, and they sell some full-length that are ivory. Obviously they still need to be darkened, but at least the starting point is closer.

I used a whole box in my wading pool. If you found a calf length coat thats awesome! It will only get 'so' dark and drying lightnes it considerably

I think on mine moss and basil were about 50%, with hunter, holiday green, olive and tan the rest. The olive should be just light touches. If I do another I would leave out the hunter or holiday green to simplify the pattern.

Define box Smile

We brew a lot of tea at home, so I get boxes with 100 bags. I have a metal washtub, maybe 1/4 the size of a kiddie pool, that I'll probably use.

The link below is for a 43" coat. I'm 5'10", so I'll need to measure first to see if the length is good for me.

Definitely measure, but the description looks like it is knee length
