Hello there!
My name's Craig from the UK. I joined the UK Garrison back in March and cleared my first costume, a Sandtrooper, back in August and have loved trooping it. My next build is ROTS Obi Wan Kenobi, turning to the other side, lol! I hope to clear on here with it as well as on UKG Rebel Command where I am also posting this WIP :-)
I have received lots of help and advice from Craig Shoosmith and also Alan Molina. Thanks guys. Also some great support from the awesome looking Jamie Hicks as General Kenobi.
So, I have given measurements to Clothears and they will be making all my soft parts - robes, cloak, trousers, tunic etc, and also my belt and pouches too. Due to their workload, I could be looking at February/March until I receive them.
I have also placed and order with Saberforge for their 'Redeemer' Obi Wan replica Lightsaber .I should hopefully have this by the end of November.
So far I have bought the museum replica boots as shown below.
And a photo of me 'hamming' it up in them (pre sole black polish)
I was then adviced to colour the soles black with shoe polish to make them screen accurate :

Ok. So here is my beard and hair at the moment. I intend to grow my hair a bit longer in the next couple of months whilst waiting for my robes, just so I can comb over the side parting more as in the film. To me, Ewan's beard in ROTS is more of a thick goatee, with shorter beard everywhere else. I will keep my beard growing full until I'm ready for final photos when I will slightly trim back all but the goatee area. And yes, I am a redhead. I know Ewan has decent elements of red in his hair and beard (below), but I was toying with using the dry shampoo approach like Craig Shoosmith uses, just to take the edge off my hair colour. Below is a before and after photo using the dry shampoo. again, thoughts please :-) yay or nay? I also have a darker coloured dry shampoo on order to test out too. Photos when it arrives.

I received two samples today that i asked for from Clothears, so I could see the colour of the cloak material against the boots. Clothears have told me it's the best looking colour material they've found in years, and have only enough to make my cloak and theirs. It looks a little brown to me compared to the Ewan McGregor reference photo. Clothears say the redder coloured one is hard to source. Would I clear with this colour robe. i have seen other Obi Wan's with this colour robe, but I hear you're getting stricter on clearance these days? ;-)
Many thanks for any feedback so far

After some emails today to Clothears (Who have been great in getting back to me and chatting about things, so not a slur on them by any means) regarding the colour of the robe, I got this reply and photo. It's a comparison photo between their sample and the screen used fabric from 'Dressing the Galaxy'. To be fair, there's not much difference in them, yes, slightly more red on the screen used, but not massively different. Again, I'm starting to wonder if colour filters were also used on promo shots as well as possibly the film? I'm going to take a photo again of my sample in natural daylight over the weekend (if we get any) and see if it makes any difference to it. Either way, this photo has put my mind at ease more. They've offered to bring the screen sample and their sample to MEM for examination by armourers too which is great news. :-)

Hi Craig.
I was just curious, when I read your post I noticed you talked about dying the soles of your new boots black? I'm not sure why they told you to do that, they are definitely brown. I meant to mention it to you before but completely forgot . I Hope your other prep is going well
Kind regards, _________________

Hello there. Yes, two different Obi Wans told me to use black shoe polish. I can always get some brown if need be. They have both cleared with black soles, that's all? Hopefully have my Saber with me in 2-3 weeks :-)
All the best
