Trying to figure out how I want to attach the chest box hose to the flightsuit side. I've seen the pics in here of using the earth magnets, which is quite ingenious, but I'm wondering...has anyone tried finding a bit of plumbing which would fit the hose end, and have that installed inside the flight suit, with the end poking out a carefully made hole in the suit? Something with a big disc on it so it wouldn't come out, as long as the hose was attached at the other end?

(make sense?) Confused

If you want to put a hole in your flightsuit/coveralls, you're free to do so so long as it looks accurate in the end. But most people aren't willing to put holes in their suit, and a magnetic elbow joint can be easily removed when needed without damaging the suit.

Someone had mentioned putting a hole in their suit a couple years ago. I'm not sure what they ended up doing...

I've got a PVC joint with a magnet in it, then another magnet on the inside of my flightsuit.

It keeps it from snagging on anything, and allows me to move it around if I need to.

Our local base CO opted to do something different from using the magnets. He riveted the male part of a snap button to his jumpsuit, and attached the female part to the hose elbow. When he suits up, he just snaps the hose to the jumpsuit.

(The top right "domed" piece is not used.)

FYI: The way I make my hose end/elbow, you can easily attach a snap button and use that method instead of using the magnets.

I've had the magnet fall loose inside the flight suit causing the hose to fall down and having to fish for a loose magnet. Now I bought some rare earth magnets to see if that's an improvement Smile

Sew a little pocket onto the inside of your suit to put the magnet into and it wont fall down... Wink

I made a loop out of fishing line running it through the magnet. Wear over my head and run arm through. Works great!
