Hello everyone!
Today I've received a bunch of photos from SW Infinities exhibition and I noticed one detail that contradicts Rebel Pilot costume standards.
Standards says:
Quote: | The shoulder straps are approximately 2" (inches) wide and sewed in place to the inside of the flak vest panels, thus joining the front and back panels together. |
But on the photo we can see that shoulder straps are sewed over the flak vest panels, not under them.
I've checked the Yavin hangar scenes, and Luke has his straps sewed to the inside.
I suppose the exhibition organizers assembled the costume wrong? _________________ Alyona Varivonchik - SL10010 & Unjani of Weekkata clan

One should always use screen grabs from the movie as best reference. Are there pilots with the attachment this way in the films? _________________ Steve Vitale (loosetoon, TB-2719, Strike 2)

This exhibit had several things wrong with it. It had X Wing Pilots wearing Tie Fighter comm pads, hoth boots and I think I even saw one with an ATA Pilot wearing a B Wing chest piece. _________________

Trust the film references over all others. That includes museum and promotional photos.
A lot of times they are assembled by people who have no clue how it should look. The ejection harness strap was placed over the waist belt at SW Identities as shown in the picture I took below...

Now you've got me curious. Do you happen to have a picture of that? _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

Yes, this photo I also have - our friends did a series of shots in Paris Sorry that costumes are not 100% accurate. _________________ Alyona Varivonchik - SL10010 & Unjani of Weekkata clan

My pictures were from Montreal. I was fortunate enough to be at the opening night Gala for the event in Canada.
Thanks to the wonder of Blu-ray and HD TV we can pause and see things we couldn't see back when I first started back in the days of Episode one. _________________ Proud U.S. Army Veteran

Zooming in on your original file pic...
From my experience in sewing, it almost looks like a sizing tuck done after the initial assembly. As if it was shortened an inch to have to sit higher on the actor's chest. _________________ -David

Super close up:
The actual Windack Pressure Suit:
(The straps actually go underneath and meet up to form a "V under the vest.)

A friend had them at a cone a year or so ago, they were on his camera. Dont remember where he went to see it. I will try and see if he will send them to me. _________________

If so, that'd be awesome. I always love to see more B-wing pilot pictures. _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley
