...and a bit more progress...i would not say "almost there" but i´m getting closer...

First thing i did today was the chest box Bottle...i used some pipe insulation for the inside and two layers of white fabric for the outside...

...bottle done

...after this i started with the belt using the picture in the charakter book as a reference...for the belt i used 2 inch strapping material as stated in the CRLs a black buckle for the back two layers of white fabric for the front deco bit and a 2inch metal slide...i also added 6 miniflares using a piece of 1inch web belt (same material and same supplier as the 2inch stuff)...

Belt done...if i do not have to add a second holder for 6 miniflares...unfortuneately the CRL is not quite clear on this point ...it just says mini flares on web belt...and not how many slots...any thoughts on this one?

tomorrow i might carry on doing the black beltbox...i found an old army canteen with two alice clips on...i think they will do as box-belt connector thingy... Wink

well thats pretty much it for now...thanks for watching Wink

Looking good so far.

Personally, I always go for six belt flare holders. That seems to be what I see in all of the movie references. X-wing pilot have twelve holders (six on each side), the other pilots have half of that--six... While I only have five belt flares on my B-wing pilot belt, I have six holders/loops, and one of them is just empty. I kind of like it, looks like I might have used one of the belt flares at some point. Razz

Well, cheers Guys...

i did some minor work over the past weeks but i think it is enough to post the progress here Wink

i built my blackbox for the belt (thanks to alex for the dimensions posted somewhere here in the subforum) out of some plastic scraps, an old headphone cable and a left over alice clip from an old army canteen...

in addition i made my "chestbox to suit" hose...first i went to my local hardware store and bought: a metre 15mm rope, one 90degree copper pipe angle, two gardena gardenhose connector (male and female), and a metre heatpipe insulation...

first i hot glued the copper bit to one gardena connector (female part), after that the rope got glued inside the copper pipe angle and on its other end to the other gardena connector...in between i glued short sections of the insulation to the rope...i did this for two reasons, a) it keeps the rope highly flexible and b) it fills up the fabric hose cover and gives it a lovely wrinkly appearance without the need of some elastic band to be sewn to the inside of the cover...

O.D. just informed me that my jumpsuit and the fabric for the pockets might leave austria next week...so i guess, my next progress report might be the suit...or the helmet...but to be honest i was always scared of starting with helmets...so i could be the last thing i do on this project Mr. Green

once again, thanks for watching, more to come soon Wink

Looking good. Smile

What did you use to make the front smaller box with the computer plug thingy on the belt box? (I have yet to find a good solution for that piece... The one in the movie references had some indentations on the front face of the smaller box and I have no clue what could have been used to make the piece...)

...plastic scraps as well...i first thought about using an old scart cable, but it just looked wrong/too big/etc in regard to the box, so i built my own small box from 1mm material and added a lower/smaller bit to it to simulate the "silver" plug in part...

...i took the new chestbox picture challenge and started to tweak my old box...well, lets say that was what i thought in the first place...i ended up creating an entire new box...but take a look...

Greeblies CADed, sketchuped, repaired, 3d printed, sanded and ready to mold

Siliconed in...just love that stuff

My "first homemade" greeblies

...the boxy bit of my new box

...the new box with greeblies added

..i think the perspex pipe needs a little shortening.

i hope to find some time to paint it somepoint next week, to get the entire project ready for approval and me in the air Awing

thanks for watching Wink
