I have a question regarding the attachment of the arm communicator. She is wearing the arm communicator while at Echo Base, but she is not while on the Falcon and is also not when escaping from Bespin.
In order to use the same suit for Hoth Leia and Bespin Escape Leia, how does everyone attach the arm communicator so that it can be easily detached without messing up the suit, so one can do both versions?
Also, should the arm communicator be an optional item since Leia only wears it part of the time she is in her Hoth gear?

Ok I did some research on this so hang in there with me . . .

We know she wears the comm on Hoth.

Here it is on the Falcon when she's welding:

Here it is on the asteroid:

Here is is when she lands on Bespin:

Then she changes into this first on Bespin:

Then finally it and the vest are gone in the chamber with Han:

I hope this wasn't too much but Ttlee and I are way to far down the rabbit hole!

Great picture. So one thing I finally figured out is that the silver top buttons on the comm are missing in the exhibit pics. And I thought the pink color was in the movie. So my first build was based on that lol. OOOPS!

So I started completely over and fixed it lol:

Yeh I guess you are right! She does have the arm communicator on in the Falcon! But when she puts the jumpsuit back on in Cloud City, there is no arm communicator, which we already knew. Smile

Thanks for posting that up!

I measured the wedge on the boots I used. They are 2 inches. But the toe on my boots is not as rounded as the ones I've seen in the pictures. I also was wondering about the zig zag pattern on the leg patches. I think I might have mine facing the wrong direction compared to the suit in the exhibit. It's really difficult to get the little details correct. Does it matter which way they face on the legs?

The vest might be a little dark, but it's hard to say for sure. Sometimes fabrics look differently when you change the lighting and the direction of it.

But you are doing a fantastic job with this! I love the attention to detail with the badge and communicator. Smile

Thanks for the kind words. My son in law painted the badge and comm and I'm very proud of him. We give her the outfit in couple of weeks and can't wait Smile

That costume is looking really good! Is the hoth vest handmade by you too?
I'd like to have a Luke Hoth vest.

Yes. I made the vest out of dwr supplex fabric. The color is oyster which probably suits the Luke Hoth better. I tried to buy light khaki but they were out of it. If it turns out to be too dark for Leia Hoth, I'll have to go to Dharma Trading website and get some dye and dye the white supplex. Beth wrote a post saying she used the ivory for her vest.. I'm happy with the construction of it, but not happy with the color for Leia Hoth. I don't have time before my daughter's birthday to make the ivory color so she'll get this one to start with. My sewing may not be over yet Smile
