I just noticed that the gun that Carrie Fisher is holding on the cover of "Star Wars Costumes: The Original Trilogy" is not the long-barrel sporting blaster we know, but more like a modified version of the DL-44 blaster that Han Solo carries during the movie. It doesn't have the scope and it has a coil cord.

Whay do you think? Is there a chance this weapon could be included in the Costuming Standards?

I think it was just used for this promo shot, but I have seen girls with it at troops. If anything, it would be added as an optional item just like the long barreled ddc.

I have a cheap DL-44 blaster, as well as the E-11 blaster. Since the E-11 is more accurate, I use it for my troops. But this photo makes me want to modify my other gun until I can start working on the long-barrel gun.

Thanks for the information, Beth Smile

They are called Merr-Sonn Power 5 and were mostly used as an Imperial Officers' side-arm.
Several were made, cast in resin from Han Solo's gun but with some different add-on parts and some parts placed differently.

The only pictures I have seen with Leia holding one are from that set of promo photos.
In fact, there are not that many pictures of the Merr-Sonn blaster altogether and the pictures of Leia holding one may just be the best ones available. The only others I have seen are in the Star Wars: Chronicles book.
I had been looking to sculpt and cast a few accurate blasters, but the lack of reference pictures has been a problem.
