Out of curiosity...one of the costumes I'm considering down the line is a Twi'lek. For various reasons, I'd like to make the lekku out of fabric. I do have some puppetry experience, so these wouldn't be just a stuffed pair of leggings- they'll be nicely shaped and shaded. Can a nice pair of cloth lekku be approved, or do they have to be latex/foam?

The various CRL's for different twi'lek's mention a "skin like appearance" for the Lekku.

It's my understanding that some have coated their cloth lekku in latex or silicone.

The basic technique is discussed in this alien costume kit tutorial:http://www.aqpa87.dsl.pipex.com/scifihelmets/building_an_aliens_costume.htm

Well, I'm toying with an idea to cover both the base lekku and all exposed skin (except my face) with nylons, so it'll match better than that picture of Oola in the standards, at any rate. I don't have any experience with latex or silicone.
