From what I've seen the argument can be made that helmets, per se should not be required for aliens.

The exception would be the Sullustan soft helmet.

Yep, I fully agree, and whould add, if you go for an non human, you must get approved for the non human look and the costume.

An aliens judge would definitely have to be involved.

Personally, I figure that any (or most) alien(s) in the SW universe can be in a RAID kit, as long as both the alien components and the RAID components are correct.

Twilek, Rodian, Sullustan, Klattu, Zabrak, whatever. If it is humanoid, and the builder has incorporated all of the requisite parts of both... good to go. Hands, face, neck, whatever is exposed outside of the uniform needs to be appropriate for the alien.

And I agree with Chuck, when it comes to judging, both judges should review their respective parts of the combined kit.

It's pretty obvious throughout the material (movies, cartoons, games, etc.) that the Rebellion is composed of all sorts of aliens and humans. If a costumer wants to go the extra mile and combine elements, go for it!

Well, I submit my Sullust Endor Trooper more than month ago, and the judges continue discussing if is necesary to wear the Donut or not...
Ok, no sullust endor trooper is seen in the movies with a comando outfit, but is seen with the gunner outfit in the milenium falcon, and only wears the soft part. But, if no one Alien is seen with RAID uniforms, what is the importance of the helmet? I think is correct (or incorrect) witho or with out the helmet, in my personal opinion, perhaps i'm wrong.
I thing the important question is "the RL want Aliens in RAID?" If want aliens, and don't appear in the movies we must accept the option to wear or not the helmet, because, now, "official" sources (like bettlefrint game) shows this aliens with out helmets. Or, just, say "we only want aliens in the movies". Sorry for this large post...

In the battlefront game. Non-humans have the appropriate outfit but no bucket. Species specific helmets are an unreasonable expectation.

Aliens as Troopers is a much larger issue than you might think...

The Troopers are mostly generic costumes...
with required pieces....
unfortunately the movies and a lot of the other references gave the galaxy a decidedly singular look...

white males...
good/bad/indifferent...
that is the way it is...

How much of any of the Trooper costumes actually fit alien beings is another matter entirely.

We tend to think of the head only...
will the various buckets fit on an alien's head?

but..

there are a LOT of aliens in the SW universe...
some have feet and hands and other body parts that don't fit into regulation Trooper costumes/uniforms.

Are the feet and hands then ignored?

How much (how many pieces) of a costume is enough?

This is perhaps a larger discussion than you might think...

and...for the record...I don't have an answer...
Wink

but in order to maintain the integrity of these largely background characters where there are iconic pieces that people identify the troopers with then
I do have the opinion that much of the costume as seen on the screen needs to fit the alien being.

Obviously, with the newer movies (like Rogue 1)...there is more of an emphasis on aliens, females and people of color.....but the original movies...
yeah...
not so much...

Hello Phyllis! Thanks for the answer!
I know this is a very difficult discussion, I can understand. My intention is to give some points of view, perhaps I'm wrong.
But, the Alien presence is something very funny and a "privilege" for the Rebel legion to contribute with this apportation.
I hope finally find the way to do an Alien trooper with all the necesary parts, and be logical too.
Perhaps we can try to imagine the Rebel Army like an Real Rebel army, with poor recurses.... we can make helmets and boots or gloves for all kind of species? Perhaps make a standar uniforms for the most common trooper (human) and the other species only can use the human like parts... normally the jumpsuit or the pants and jacket... question of money, a rebellion is very expensive Smile Smile

Hey all!

I was actually hoping to try out a Bith Endor Trooper. Seeing as they're humanoid and I've seen plenty of mask/glove sets online I was wondering if this would/could be an option?
