Hi

I am just about to start my Blue Senate Guard costume, I will be picking up my Bucket from the fibreglass people who put a lovely paint job and shine to it, and over the coming weeks I will slowly making the tunics etc.

Thanks in advance for your input and advise

Darkwar

I have been looking at screen shots of the outer robe and it appears to be in one piece, is this right and if I use velvet wouldn't it affect the colouring with the grain of the fabric, being one grain facing upwards in the front and then the grain facing downwards in the rear

Just thought I would ask,

My internet is a bit limited ATM , but feel free to post here or pm me with any questions you have. I have an extra set of royal blue robes if you may want them. Hope to speak with you soon

G'day Daddy (I feel funny saying daddy) Hello to you solo

I have most of the items I need the inner and outer robe fabric etc, I think the only items I don't have is a forcepike and gloves, but that will come in time, perhaps you could enlighten me about the outer tunic is it all one piece??

Hope to speak again

Howdy- yes the front and back are one piece. The two side seams should end in the front just above the bend in your arm. I have a schematic of the pattern I used somewhere stashed on my computer. I'll try to look for it this weekend when I get a chance. I'd love to see your progress so make sure to,take pics as you go.

As for the color of the velvet, the standards originally called for a royal blue, but I have a thread around here somewhere with a bunch of screen grabs showing it to be a more dusty blue. It's a hard color to pin down because it looks so different under different lighting. Best of luck and keep me posted. I'll look for pics when I can. Cheers!

Yep - same model I have from sithplanet. The sculpt is not as super accurate as Amy's from England, but it serves well as an Ep III variant (face shield) or Ep I/II (plumes). I found the color he used a little too bright blue, so I repainted it. Keep it going!!!

Yeah I found the workmanship very rough pit holes and unevenness, the plume wouldn't fit properly and was waaaaaay out of shape, it was a little hard for me to do myself so I sent it off to the fiberglass people, I must say they did a grand job, I changed the colour from a metallic to a solid Royal Blue and it has like a million coats of resin on top to really bring out the colour, I guess in the long run we all look like walking Blueberries lol

Okay after making a rough pattern from cheap sheet fabric and sewing up a mock robe, I now have a paper pattern of a blue Senate guard.

So far my sister the tailor has made the inner lining which you can roughly see in the photo

Next she made the outer robe

And then put the 2 together awaiting for the neck line to be sewn, as the velvet and the lining started slipping she decided to call it a day and will come back tomorrow

Very nice. Smile

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the slits go all the way down to your elbows? Right now they they stop a couple of inches above. (I freely admit I'm no expert of this costume).

Hi Lorna

There doesn't seem to be a real guide/standard that I can find, just justifications to screen accuracy, but the screens show the sleeve levels at different lengths
Here is one at a higher level whilst

Here its lower

I'm no expert either, but I am hoping that some of the judges can jump in and take a look and give some advise, I think I have done it to screen accuracy . . . . according to the screen shots, but open to suggestions
