I've been asked to write up a standard for the General Leia costume. I find it really hard to describe what I see, so I'm unsure if they are clear enough. At this time we don't really have any good reference photos of the belt and beltbuckle, and only so-so photos of the boots.

Here are a number of reference photos, I've played around with lightning and trying to mark out seams on some of them.

Proposed standards

The general Leia Organa costume consists of a jumpsuit with a vest and belt, worn together with black wedgeheeled boots. The hair is worn in twisted strands wrapped around the head.

The costume should consist of the following.

Jumpsuit
A grey jumpsuit in a medium weight fabric with a yoke and turned over collar.
¾ length sleeves with an upturned cuff
The front closure of the jumpsuit is covered by a flap of fabric.
The front is open at the top, with no visible fastenings and the flap folded back.
All seams of the jumpsuit are felled.

Vest
A faded black or dark charcoal grey vest that reaches down to the thighs.
The vest has two back pieces, joined together at the center back, and two front pieces.
The back seam and side seams are shaped to follow the body and give a better fit.
There is a one piece yoke that extends below the shoulders in the back and goes all the way down the length of the front. The yoke follows a princess seam line in the front.
The yoke is not connected to the vest at the arm opening, instead two layers of fabric are visible there.
There is one pocket on each side of the vest, attached between the side seam and sewn over the yoke piece in the front.

Belt
A black leather or leatherlike belt with a large belt buckle.
The belt buckle is oval and in silver colour and is slightly wider at the top than the bottom.
There is a large dark centre (which might be the belt being looped through the buckle).
On each side of the centre there are two narrow indentations.

Boots
Black boots that go almost up to the knee
Low wedge heel
Rounded toe

Hair
Two twists of hair that are looped around the head.
The twists starts at each temple, just above the ear and goes over the top of the head and then down towards the neck and up again. There are no visible ends of hair.
Natural hair colours only, but a light brown/dark blonde with grey streaks are preferred. No bangs.

Jewellery
A silver ring worn on the right ring finger.
The ring covers the lower section of the finger
The ring is made of two straight silver wires that meet and forms a loop at each end of the ring.
A round blue stone is set in the lower loop.

*There might be a strap and buckle on the shaft of the boot, and a hidden zipper on the inside but I'm not sure about that.

I posted a reply to your post in my thread regarding the vest color. From some of the screen shots, it appears the vest may be/contain a muted purple or eggplant-ish color (if that makes sense). Thoughts??

Great to see this happening!

I'd say the vest is dark purple/eggplant in color and the boots are not black, but brown. The boots also appears to have some straps around the lower half.

I just returned from seeing the movie again, and the vest is definitely purplish in color. My friend also thought it looked purplish. The back yoke also has a center seam. (Basically the entire back of the vest appears to have a center seam.)

And yes, the boots are indeed brown.

Thank you guys so much for working on this and taking your sharp eyes into the movie theater. This will help a lot of people looking to make the costume, as well as the judging team once you guys submit your costumes. Wink

Since this costume has been categorized by the LMO as an officer rather than a dignitary, I'm moving this over to the officer forum to continue the discussion. Please do continue this over there, as you guys are already the best experts we have.

I'm at work so making a quick comment. Could a shirt and pants be an option as long as they both the same shade?

The vest appears to me to be linen. There's a texture to the fabric that looks like linen.

That's what I am using for my vest remake.

Is the collar of the vest the same as the ANH Rebel Trooper? I suspect that it has a high collar an extension of the front section.

Yes, that should work fine. We really don't know if it's a jumpsuit or not, as the waist line is hidden by the belt.

Jewelry should be optional.

Indigo is blue, maybe "plum" would be better?

The wording of the description needs to be tightened up some, but it looks good for content. Cool

As I posted in my thread, this vest is a bit more purple than it appears in this photo (from the Visual Dictionary).

The boots appear mid calf length. Also with the vest could the extra layer at arm hole be a type of shoulder pad?

Yes the vest has a collar https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1218013161547124&set=a.100681253280326.1528.100000153555069&type=3&theater

Sorry I can't load the picture on the site. Also the plait looks like a very long hair extension that is folded in half creating a loop above the right ear and then plaited.

The vest definitely has a collar.

will tall brown, wedge boots be suitable or will we be required to find boots with the exact straps?
