Hello sir, I 100% believe we have more than enough reference, i dare say we have more reference of this costume than I have ever had of any of the 8 Legion 1sts I've created (and then helped write CRLs for) I hope I can be of some help.
Smile

Before the movie came out we had more than enough reference.

We have the movie, we have a NY model we have various promo sources.

I did some breakdowns at the bottom of my reference folder listed below.

If my ref images are of some help that fabulous.

There are 52 images inside this one

Might something like this be our flak vest strap?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Herringbone-cotton-tape-twill-tape-bias-binding-bunting-any-width-length-/171265424202

It's a UK listing under upholstery supplies.

You can order samples from them, I'd get a sample in to check, but yes it looks radically different colours under different lighting as it has a sheen to the fabric.

Hi!
I've been in contact with a company that sell this fabric:

Its a Cordura Nylon Fabric that matches the original almost 100%
The company gave me a pantone # and its: c18-1561
I also purchase a polyester thread that matches the fabric perfectly.
Hopefully this helps a bit.

How do you know this matches the original?

Though the Cordura is by far the closest we've found to the original- is anyone else concerned that almost everything else on the TFA pilot costume is UK sourced, yet this Cordura material is seemingly unavailable from anywhere in the UK (from my research) and is primarily produced in the US.

Are we pretty confident the cordura will pass costume standards once it is sorted? I'm hesitant to order a bunch of material from the US without being confident it will be okayed for official use.

That's a good point. I am waiting for several samples from UK suppliers, including Cordura, stretch denim, poplin, cotton twill and tula cotton. Once I've got them I will post some photos.

As I live in the UK, no this time I'm not concerned XD
Usually everything is in the USA, I'm not going to rant about this, this time XD

Maybe try and get a sample sent to you.
At least you now have a PMS # you can use as ref. And once I get the fabric I can match a crayola crayon to it incase you dont have a PMS Swatch book.
I can also send out samples if you pay for shipping Smile I send stuff off the UK every month
