|
|
|
After many months of trying to get the embroidery done on my machine I have decided to ditch the Solvy Plastic. I got curious and did a test embroidery swatch without the Solvy and found my machine stitched perfectly! So now to try method #2 to transfer the embroidery design on the silk quilt tops. After some research I have settled on using the Quilter's Pounce and Chalk method to transfer the design. It just means double sewing, first to make the templates and then to stitch the design on to the silk quilt tops.
See how to Pounce:

Here's an update on my J. Nu tabbards.
Current state of my tabbard. by Archivist32 Traveller, on Flickr
This is left tabbard over the shoulder. I am sewing it 3 inches at a time and copying the template as I go. _________________ *******************************************************************

You'll get there. Nice to see such attention to the details. That really makes a costume looks awesome. _________________ DXO of Royalty & Senatorial detachment

What's the definition of a close resemblance for J. Nu's tools?
"8. Jedi librarian tools. There should be 2-3 of different designs closely resembling the ones used in the movie. The tools are attached to a brass ring on a medium brown leather strip. If 2 tools are used, one strip will be enough."
I just bought one of these spindles to paint it silver. I thought it would be a 'close' resemblance to one of her tools. Since i don't have a metal lathe or sculpture skills to make anything.

Will this do?
Cheers,

I'm not sure it will be close enough, but I think it could be if you build a little on it. _________________ DXO of Royalty & Senatorial detachment

I will continue making my J. Nu tabards but I will also get a set of generic Jedi Librarian tabards made. This is because Star Wars Identities exhibition is opening in Sydney and I don't want to miss out on volunteering at the museum. Here is a link to the geometric pattern I am going to use with a slight modification for these generic Jedi Librarian tabards:
https://www.pattern8.com/free-repeat-patterns/geometric-links-1
I think it will look nice done in black on a ginger linen black ground. It will complement my bright mustard OT and my chocolate brown circle wrap skirt very nicely.
So my revised plan is to qualify as a generic Jedi Librarian first and then go for an upgrade.

Here's an update on the Jocasta Nu side of the project: I have asked two prop makers to post their designs for Jocasta's Tool's. Would a judge kindly post their comments about the designs? Here is the first set of designs from Made In Titan.

What's your opinion Laura? Do you have any changes, suggestions or comments?
Thanks,

They look good to me.
Any plans yet as to what materials the big one will be made in? It has that clear, plastic look part. Perhaps clear resin? _________________ DXO of Royalty & Senatorial detachment

it will be a combination of aluminum bars and smoothed 3D printing.
And the big part (oval with notches) will be 3D print + smoothing + form + casting of transparent material (I cast the lenses on the blasters). _________________ karel@madeintitan.cz or https://www.facebook.com/MadeInTitan |
