I want to start working on this costume. To anyone that has made it, how many yards of the sheer fabric did you end up using for the dress and the sleeves?
Thanks

I'm going to move this thread into the Leia costume forum so that other people who have made this costume will see your questions more easily.

I can't remember, but I know it was more than 3 yards.

My best advice is to make your mock up. Once you are happy with your mock up, use those pieces as a guide to how much fabric you will need. I usually take my mock up apart and use it as my pattern pieces. I can get a pretty good estimate of how much fabric I need by laying out those pieces how I would cut them out (depending on the width of the fabric). After that I usually buy a little bit more than my estimate.

I hope I explained that well. Let me know if you have any questions.

A lot. I think it was around 6 meters due to the huge sleeves. And yes, I did have some large leftover pieces after cutting my fabric.
But as Blue said it will depend on the fabric width. If it is very wide you should be able to shave off two meters on my estimate.

Do you know if anyone has posted info about pattern drafting for the sleeves on this dress?

Hmm, I think I did post some years back... I'll take a look and see if my memory serves me right.

Okay, I didn't, but I did share a link to my costume album, which does have those images. Please note it isn't 100 % accurate, but reflect where I was at the time. It should still be helpful regarding the sleeves though.

And maybe someday I should write a proper tutorial on this. Ah, all the things to do.

You said it, Lora.

Weirdly, I've been researching this one to put together for my daughter. So I'll be keeping an eye on your thread for updated info.
