Ghost Base - Replay FX Gaming Con 07/28/2016-07/31/2016

We were invited back for the 2nd year to Replay FX. Originally we had planned to be there Saturday and Sunday only, even though the event is 4 days. But with the Pirates game being on Wed and several of us already in town, we decided to go ahead and set up on Thursday and do all 4 days (the event host was thrilled to have us all 4 days).

Thursday began with Jim, Bryce, Matt Schraeder and myself arriving in the late morning to set up. Once we unloaded everything, Jim and I had to go check into the hotel because all the parking areas that could have taken our trailer were full. Matt and Bryce stayed behind and did a fantastic job at putting up the card banner and getting our tables in position. Thank you Matt and Bryce for surprising us and having it all done, you guys did great! The day was a little slow and next year, we probably don't need to set up on Thursday. But I would recommend setting up on Friday. We started getting more people at our table on Friday and especially on Saturday. We had several possible recruits come through. On Sunday, we even had a mother and son come over and told us that the only reason they came to Replay was because they saw we were going to be there.

Our host, Mark was very gracious and made sure we had what we needed. He had water bottles and then big coolers full of ice water in the changing room for us. He also gave us a key to the changing room so we could lock it when we wanted. They also helped us get a garment rack so Vader could hang his cape. Saturday night Mark also bought pizza for everyone so we could eat dinner there. Which turned out great because a lot of us didn't want to leave Sat night till way after the Hillary rally was done. The event went smoothly even with having thousands of people coming into the convention hall for the Hillary rally. There was an area that we could not get past for security reasons but we never went into that area anyway so it wasn't an inconvenience. We did end up running into the crowds as they started leaving and wound up making a lot of kids happy. Several us ended up staying and taking photos but we made sure to tell the rally crowd that we could not wear the buttons or have any signs in the photos.

Overall, this was a great event and everyone had a lot fun. Vader (TJ) suited up 4 times in 3 days and is getting great weathering on his costume. Of course, he was the hit of the event and did a great job. We had Kevin join us from Old Line Garrison, thank you Kevin for coming out this way. We had a blast trooping with you!

I want to thank each and every member who came out for the weekend. You all did a fantastic job trooping, helping out at the booth, tearing it down each night and helping set it up in the mornings. This couldn't have gone any better without all your help!
