another hint that the pilot is climbing into an x-wing is the astromech behind him. From what we have seen so far there are no astromechs in the u-wing

Saw another blue suited pilot in an xwing in the most recent trailer that dropped today with a porkinsesque helmet. Maybe a different squadron (Partisans?)

I also saw a few pilots in the blueish jumpsuits. One is visible in this image towards the lower right...

This seems to confirm that the blue-suited pilots are indeed U-wing pilots...

It could be that he is either or neither ie a U-Wing pilot who is needed to fly an X-Wing or vice versa. As he's an officer he might be able to dictate what ship he pilots?

Time for some more confusion.

Blue flight suit. U-wing. Completely different helmet, flak vest, chestbox...

And...

Are the blue-suited "X-wing pilots" actually Y-wing pilots...?

General Merrick is an Xwing pilot. Blue Leader. You mostly see the girl U wing pilot in the film

The "Blue Squadron" pilots have the alternative flight suit with the tan ribbed stripe on the sleeve. I wonder where they came from... I'm thinking a faction that joined the rebellion and never changed their existing flight gear.
