U-Wing helmet has modern feel to it, can't tell if its a modified current tanker helmet or flight though

It does look like a US Army Combat Vehicle Crewman helmet.

U wing helmet is an sph4 helicopter helmet, tank crew CVC helmets are seen on the imperial ground crew

Yep helmets for U-Wing pilots are SPH-4 helmets..

I now have a use for the one i have!!

me too. I want the new U wing style. I also had that feelilng regarding its orgigin and saw the CVC helmet with a jawbone for the ground crew.

The U-Wingers are like the chopper pilots of the Star Wars universe. They have a door gunner just like the Huey Slicks from the Vietnam era.

It only makes sense they would have a helmet that offers a higher degree of visibility on all sides.

New Visual dictionary states that General Merrick's elite Blue Squadron is comprised of BOTH X-wing and U-wings.

I'm working on one too. I found the mic they use. Don't know the exact model, but it sows up under "US Navy APH-6 Jet Pilot Helmet Boom Microphone" when you google it.

More details on the new suits, I see visible zippers so I think these are real world flight suits.
If you have existing orange there is not a need to upgrade.

We are working out the details for the Blue Squadron/U-Wing suits.
