So I did make more progress but didn't get it done prior to Celebration - I was pretty heartbroken. I'm struggling with the boots and the belt but the dress is done.
I'm placing everything in a google album as that's just easier and I can upload quickly. Hopefully everyone can see this:

There were several things that I still need to polish:
1. The belt is not shaped correctly - its not supposed to be identical to the senatorial gown belt - and it needs to be re-cut and painted to match what is in the reference images. The belt accents I'm happy with so they'll just need to be attached.
2. The boots (which I need to photograph and upload to the above gallery) didn't turn out as I expected and I'm really thinking of redoing them.
I know there was a question about a pattern. I used this but altered it so the front seam was closed and the back seam had the zipper:

I like your progress. Any problems with the fabric being see-through? Just wondering if it needs to be lined. White fabrics tend to be a little see-through. _________________

Lora --- I think if I get the correct type of undershirt I should be better off - that one is a tank top and I think I need a high collared shirt to better cover. |

You just experiment and find out what works. Self-lining or flat-lining are possibilities. _________________

Hi! I'm going to attempt to make this costume, and have a few questions! What material did you use for the grey parts? Is the hood a rectangular one like the senatorial dress? _________________

I'll see if I can get the official name of the grey fabric when I run to JoAnn's this weekend but its like a faux suede - I backed it with quilt batting to give it some dimension and the lines are approximately 1 inch apart.
I did use the same rectangular hood as the senatorial gown - so that was actually pretty easy.
My one suggestion would be to find a lighter fabric - I used a heavy white spandex (from yah yah han I think) and its entirely too heavy and too hot... and still see through so I still have to line it. |

Okay! I was thinking of using a jet set knit like used on my senatorial gown. I think it's probably gonna need to be lined as well. But that just seems to be white fabric unless you have a sweater knit.
Also, what kind of material did you use for the belt? _________________

This is a really beatiful dress. To my wife and I had love it. Reading your post is extremly helpful to start with. Thanks you so much for put here all your work.
We want to start make it. I think the shoulder area is the same of the belt so, is need to be made in the same material. What dom you think about that? _________________ A great leap forward often requires first taking two steps back |
