I'll keep checking Ikea's stock info, but there's alternates out there easily for the coarse weave fabric for the cape. Very Happy

I picked up more paint today and the umber wash for final paint phase. I saw other WIPs where an umber wash was used and it just brings every layer of paint together beautifully.

Next paint stage involves greys and adding some black before I move onto adding aluminum!

Taking an exercise rest day, so squeezed in some painting before work.

I added a layer of Sky Grey to Boushh.

I forgot to take a picture of the German Grey layer... oops... but after Sky Grey came misting of German Grey.... then added black for charring effect.

Ears painted up black.

Next up.... dry brushing aluminum paint and spraying the top visor with aluminum.

And I need to back track and redo the greys. I got carried away with the black for a charring effect. LOL

This is my favorite part, the building, the weathering, the painting. Then I get to move onto what frustrates me most. Sewing the soft goods!

I got carried away with the black in places for the char effect. Oops. So had to retouch with the grey. Top visor has been sprayed with flat aluminum.

Dry brushing details with aluminum is next!

Stencil work! I used regular printer paper to make my stencil.... so now I have some clean up work to do.

I used hull red for the faded tones.

aaaand yikes... this will NOT do on the back stripes. The stripes should be crisp and sharp.

FORTUNATELY... I was going to the hobby store to pick up 1/4" black pin striping for around the crown and it wound up being the perfect size for the stripes. VOILA.

Excellent work. Very Happy If you have this much attention to the details through all of the costume then it will turn out wonderful.

Fingers crossed on it!

I got the leather today for the cowl and snout. It's beautiful and I might cry a little at having to distress and weather it. LOL

I may be a little sad at moving from painting the helmet when done to sewing up the soft goods. Then happy again when it comes time to paint and weather the shoulder armor, tanks, bandolier, and related greeblies!

I had to do some definition cleanup around the '1138'. Especially the 3 and 8. This will all mute and even out when I take 000 or 0000 steelwool to the helmet for wet sanding prior to doing the umber wash.

The leather was also acquired today for the helmet!

Great job so far- love the color for the leather parts! The front "snout" is a little too metalic for my taste but that may just be me...

I'm going to see how the umber wash mutes all the colors down. I'm pretty excited to play with that!

I sprayed down the helmet and greeblies this morning with umber wash. It really does mute down and tone the colors!

Photos were taken in fully sunlit garage, no artificial lighting.

I'm going to sit on the paint job, I'm not sure if I'm ready to call it done or do some touch up work. I'll do additional photos to look over in comparison with the naked eye. I see a bigger difference to the naked eye, but I want the details to photograph well under different conditions.

Also.. additional photo in indoor lighting to show how the snout greeblie got muted down with the umber wash.
