Comments: Honor the fallen, our military, vets and first responders! On Sep 9, 2017, we're hosting the 3rd Annual Travis Manion Foundation 9/11 Heroes Run 5K and 1/2 Mile Fun Run at Carl Sandburg Middle School in Alexandria, VA. Last year, over 1,500 runners, volunteers, sponsors and spectators answered the challenge, "If Not Me, Then Who..."

What's Special About Our Event?? We have a Hall of Heroes courtesy of our local sponsor Liberty Tax where you can leave messages for our fallen heroes and read biographies of those military and first responders we've lost in the Washington, DC area as well as those lost on 9/11. We have FREE IHOP pancakes, bacon, sausage and coffee for EVERYONE who shows up. Don't want to run? Come out and volunteer or just CHEER and when you get tired and hungry - enjoy some IHOP pancakes! We have a vintage car show courtesy of Alexandria Cars and Coffee. We have Star Wars characters. We have a 1/2 mile Fun Run for the littlest runners! We have a bagpipe band. We have fire trucks from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department and Fire Department, City of Alexandria, VA and police cars and other vehicles from Fairfax County Police Department and Fairfax County Sheriff. We have a muscle car show courtesy of Alexandria Cars and Coffee. We have an awesome vendor village with lots of businesse!

Herbert and Justin Hughes and sponsors like New York-based Reheroed, Yogurt City Alexandria, Mercedes-Benz of Alexandria and Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Exotic Car Collection By Enterprise and Mount Vernon Gazette. We have Marine Corps Recruiting poolees. We have lots of community organizations like Fort Hunt Youth Lacrosse and Fort Hunt Little League and Virginia Patriot Guard. Oh yes, and for the serious runners, the chips are in the bibs! Come on out and set a PR while you #honorthefallen #ifnotmethenwho

Are you getting the message?

The 9/11 Heroes Run brings together communities across the country and around the world to run, volunteer, donate, and cheer, but most of all: Honor. In cities like Charleston, Houston, San Diego, New York and Seattle, and many others across the country, this is a unique opportunity to come together, honor the fallen, and NEVER FORGET the service and sacrifice of our heroes - veterans, first responders, civilian, and military on and after September 11th. The race series allows participants to honor the fallen by challenging the living and ask themselves Travis Manion's mantra, "If Not Me, Then Who..."

In just our first two years, our Heroes Run has raised almost $45,000 for veteran and first responder-focused non-profit organizations. We raise money and donate it to the Travis Manion Foundation and other local non-profits. Past beneficiaries have included Team Fisher House at Fort Belvoir MWR, Armed Services Arts Partnership and Fairfax County Police Explorers Posts 1742, 2252, and 505.

We hope you'll join us Saturday, September 9th for this truly memorable event!
