Beth has proposed the following updates to the Hoth Leia costume standards.

Quote:
2017 Hoth Leia Standards Revision

(Revised from 2012 suggested Hoth Leia standards)

Required Items:

1. Jumpsuit
a. White jumpsuit in a non-shiny fabric with an upper front yoke seam with flat-felled double top-stitched seam.
b. Center back seam.
c. Back yoke seam, contoured to a slight V-shape, flat-felled with topstitching
d. Standing collar of two horizontal pieces, padded with piping trim around the collar edge and at the two-piece seam

e. Side front and side back bodice sections above the waist have a rounded and contoured diagonal quilted zig-zag design with piping trim in the princess seams
f. Contoured pill-shaped padded patches on the upper and lower arms with a rounded and contoured diagonal quilted zig-zag design; patches should be proportional to the sleeves.
g. Larger contoured pill-shaped padded patches on the front thighs with a rounded and contoured diagonal quilted zig-zag design; patches should be proportionate to upper pant legs.
h. Sleeves end at the wrists and pant legs end just below the ankle line
i. Center front zipper covered by a topstitched placket sewn to the right side and bottom of the zipper
j. Topstitching at the wrists and hems.

k. Waist-length, top-stitched matching belt, 2” wide, closed with a single large pant hook/eye.
l. Two narrow belt loops/carriages, one attached to each side seam
m. A padded jumpsuit is preferred but not required.

2. Vest

a. Off-white or cream padded vest
b. Upper padded front and back yokes with topstitched fabric insignia “frame”, proportionate to the upper left yoke and insignia size, with piping in the yoke seam, both back and front
c. Semi-circular, fully
padded, rounded fold-over collar with piping trim
d. Large, square
diamond-shaped quilting below the yoke.
e. Faux, trapezoidal pocket flaps over full long pockets from the waist down of a single layer of fabric and topstitching at the edges; the vest is quilted all the way to the hem and the silhouette of the diamond quilting can be seen through the thin, single layer pocket bags.
f. Top stitching at the armholes, center front and hem edges

3. Rank insignia on upper left side of the vest yoke.

4. Wrist communicator attached to the left forearm quilted patch.

5. Boots
a. Gray leather or non-shiny vinyl, 1”-3” wedge-heel knee-high boots, with three gray suede 1” wide straps,
b. Worn with the jumpsuit pant legs tucked in.
c. Both open boot shafts with a tongue (Hoth Base version) or plain boots shafts with a plain inside zip (Falcon version) are approvable.

6. Hair pulled back into braids that wraps around the head. Naturally-occurring hair color only; no bangs.

Optional Items:

1.Off-white or cream leather gloves

This discussion will remain open for at least two weeks or until a consensus is reached.

Can I suggest blue/cool grays, or medium Gray on the boots? I've seen really dark gray boots that stick out before. The vest quilting is also so large, should it be noted that there are no more than 1.5 diagonal squares heightwise?

Those are good points. The boots shouldn't be too dark.

I agree the colors for the boots should be added. With the vest squares, would it make a difference if the person is taller as to the number of squares? I'm hesitant to say only x number of squares as it could vary with different sizes and shapes.

Maybe a guideline on size of squares would be better?

Is the addition of the "falcon" boots by any chance referring to this (previously pretty contentious, I think!) publicity picture of Leia?

I would add that the straps for the boots need to be a few shades darker- I also don't know that we need to say one hook closure for the belt, in some of the pictures it looks like it could be two to me.... maybe we could just say "closed with one or two large pant hook closures" or something like that

should we add colors to the wrist and chest communicators/badges?

l. Two narrow belt loops/carriages, one attached to each side seam
m. A padded jumpsuit is preferred but not required.

2. Vest[/color]
a. Off-white or cream padded vest
b. Upper padded front and back yokes with topstitched fabric insignia “frame”, proportionate to the upper left yoke and insignia size, with piping in the yoke seam, both back and front
c. Semi-circular, fully

f. Top stitching at the armholes, center front and hem edges

3. Rank insignia on upper left side of the vest yoke. Rank badge is cool gray with black details and gray-blue and red-orange raised squares along the top.

4. Wrist communicator attached to the left forearm quilted patch. Wrist communicator is cool gray with silver details.

5. Boots
a. Medium gray leather or non-shiny vinyl, 1”-3” (2.5 cm - 7.5 cm) wedge-heel knee-high boots, with three slightly darker gray suede 1” (2.5 cm) wide straps,
b. Worn with the jumpsuit pant legs tucked in.
c. Both open boot shafts with a tongue (Hoth Base version) or plain boots shafts with a plain inside zip (Falcon version) are approvable.

6. Hair pulled back into braids that wraps around the head. Naturally-occurring hair color only (brown recommended); no bangs.

Optional Items:

1.Off-white or cream leather gloves

I also added the RLGS hair clause, because I forgot it before.

Just eyeballing the costuming, it looks like the quilted squares are about 3.5"/9 cm per side. Does that sound about right?
