i just ordered that costume from etsy. what would i need to modify to get approved? i know the arm bands need to be redone. i already ordered a yard of some grey fabric to remake them. what else? i know its not totally accurate, but i only have so many options. i only get so much money a month. and im a size 24, and some commisoners wont make plus size sadly.

It looks like a good start though sash/belt and armwraps certainly need to be changed. The lighting on it is a bit harsh though so it might not present as it normally would.

With a redone belt and wrist wraps you would probably be good as long as it fits. I'm not sure about the pants color though. It's hard to tell what they are in that photo. We'll be looking for a really deep wine color.

Purple should work, but they do look blue in the flash photo, so double check that when you get it (if you buy it).

That's encouraging. If not, you could always dunk them in purple dye to get the right tint.

Hello! I was prayerfully considering making my own Padme Tatooine outfit, but was not sure about the right materials to use. Would ya'll happen to know which fabric I should get or even better, if there is already a pre-made shirt and vest available? I cannot afford to buy the whole costume outright from ebay or something, so I was just going to start making one. Thank you so much for the help! God bless<><

I'm not aware of any vendor that just makes one piece or another.

What a lot of people use for the shirt is a cotton gauze with a nice visible weave. The original has an additional, loosely woven scarf-like layer over that gauze, but the standards do not currently require that.

For the vest, the original is some kind of basket-weave fabric, though I have had trouble finding an exact match. Anything in the browns/grays that has a thick, visible weave with varying thread colors is probably okay.

Since both of these pieces are fairly simple shapes to make, it is probably cheaper to do that yourself.

I made my own - really really simple pattern took maybe 20 minutes to cut (mostly because I had to cut in my parents floor and it required a lot of crawling around to not shift the pattern off the fabric) and 10 to sew the outer vest. The shirt took 45 minutes total to put together. I found 2 thicknesses of raw silk in a home decor fabric store (in the curtain section) Both were natural colored (unbleached and undyed), I used the single strand for the shirt and the twisted multi strand for the vest which created a nicely sized basketweave pattern. It wasnt the cheapest fabric but it dyed beautiful and has held up amazingly.
