I've started gathering references for this, and can say with 100 percent certainity that there is a center back seam on the jacket. Smile The jacket is also slightly shaped in the back to conform to the body's curves.

I'll see if I can get a reference gallery started soon.

Where have you found that photo, I haven't found anything of the back. But yeah, that definitely makes it easier to make a fitting coat.

Latest google search revealed a nice one. Smile It's from the trailer.

The coat is finished, and I'm really happy with it.

I based my pattern on these photos, where I've marked the seams that I can see.

For the pattern I started with a 16th Century loose gown, and the only change was that lengthened the pieces to make a stand up collar. For the sleeves I started with big square sleeves and then I folded and cut away fabric until I had a shape that I liked.

Here are the pattern pieces that I ended up with. The coat pieces are shorter since I only worked with them to the hips, and when I cut out the fabric I simply lengthened them.

The coat is made of a black/navy wool with a chainmail pattern in grey over the base fabric and lined in grey cotton sateen (actually a pair of bedsheets that I had to dye, since I live in a town without any fabric stores). I've added fusible interfacing to the collar down to the bust, and the straight seams of the sleeves. I still need to give it a good and final press and hem it, but I want to wait with the hem until I've done the underdress.

The dress is done, except for hemming.

Now I have a couple of days to fix the wig and the jewellery.

Right now I'm in that costume stress period that I forget to take photos while I'm working.

I’m excited to see the dress! The coat pattern is wonderful but the weave looks like a chain-mail pattern to me rather than a box shaped pattern you were previously posting about.

When you do remember to take pics, then post some here. I look forward to seeing them. Smile

I have finished the jewellery for the costume. I've also spent hours and hours battling with the wig. By now I have the general shape figured out, and it looks ok from the front, but I hate the back. The problem is simply that the synthetic hair is too thick and slippery so it's hard to get the hair pins and bobby pins to hold on to anything. It's really frustrating since I could probably do the hairstyle pretty easily with my own hair (but it's bright red with purple highlights)

Here is the jewellery:

The bracelet is one layer of worbla, with strips of worbla to strengthen it and help it keep its shape. Then I have rolled copper coloured synthetic string around it.

The earrings are also worbla with a stud to attach them to the ears.

The large stone ring is made with fimo clay, similar to sculpey, and painted.

The earrings, the bracelet and the metallic parts of the large stone ring are all painted with acrylic paint in a brass colour.

I bought the two stone ring on etsy from a Canadian 3d printer.

Wow this jewelry is great!!! I am definitely stealing your ideas- could you heat the bracelet to add the curve/dip thing to it?

The curve dip thing was on the bracelet, but I simply couldn't get the string to attach to it, and I felt that it would look worse with a curve/dip without string, than having the string all the way to a straight edge.

And here are photos of the dress. It's made from poly micro satin, with the wrong (matte) side out and the shiny side in. It's lined with a silk crepe de chine attached at the neck, but the lining hangs free under the rest of the dress. The sleeves are unlined.

My dressform has a shorter torso than me, so it is empire waisted, even if it looks like the belt is almost at the natural waist.

The belt is reinforces with fusible interfacing, and attached to an elastic that goes between the outer fabric and the lining in the back. It Closes with a hook and bar.

Just the belt

And I have styled a wig as well. The most annoying thing is probably that the hairstyle is simple enough that I could have made it pretty easily with my own hair, but it's red with purple streaks at the moment. Well instead I had to fight with evil synthetiic hair that refuses to stay put and hair pins and bobby pins that refuse to hold on to the hair.

In this photo I haven't tried to mask the wigline or anything. Also when I'm wearing it I'm hoping to be able to add some more pins to make it less poofy.
