When we all arrived at Toys-R-Us at 10:30 pm, there was about 6 or 7 people already standing outside waiting for the doors to open. We stood outside for a few minutes and greeted one another while listening to some Star Wars tunes via our car stereos. Around 10:45 we got the attention of one of the store workers. At first they thought we were with the crowd of people waiting to get in. We told them who we were and they went and got a manager. Once they realized we were the Rebel Legion and the 501st, they opened the doors for us and carried us back to our changing area on a platform made of legos...just kidding...They gave us their break room to change in and allowed us to keep our stuff in there so it could be kept safe and secure from the public.

Members of Ghost Base and Garrison Carida each helped one another get ready. Once we suited up, we went out to entertain the crowd of folks gathering outside. The crowd wasn't huge but it was nice sized for a midnight release of toys. I estimate around 20 ppl or more were waiting in line. Interaction with the crowd was great. The crowd had a decent knowledge of Star Wars so jokes between the Empire and the Rebels began firing back and forth between the public and the troopers in attendance. We had a couple people ask us about our costumes and who we were. We had several picture requests as well. We put some people in handcuffs who were later freed by the Jedi. Stormtroopers were moving people to back of the line as a form of "discipline" for "disobeying" the Empire. The Jedi used "mind tricks" so the Stromtroopers would allow the people moved in line to go back to their original spots. Everyone had a good time and the public enjoyed the interaction. Once the doors opened, people rushed in for the toys. We got a few more pictures requests but that was pretty much the end of the public interest in us. We waiting until everyone had pretty much finished shopping and then we suited down. The Store Manager gave us posters, tee shirts, as well as some Star Wars medals he had left over from last years Force Friday event. Everyone attending seemed to have a great time!
