Folks, here is a place where we can amass screencaps of Luke as they surface.

Image deleted, I would delete this post if I could work out how to do it ;-)

Here's what I have gathered so far. Hopefully I'll soon get more as screen caps come in from the DVD and Blu-ray.

interesting. the robe/cloak is NOT stitched to the tunic, as first suspected.

that's just a thin strap which goes under the armpit, to hold the cloak in place.

this makes a lot more sense.

(this is how anakin's episode II cloak was attached -- hidden strap under the armpit -- NOT stitched directly to the tunic)

I think it is both, actually. It is tacked to the stole/robe and reinforced with the underarm strap so it doesn't pull everything back.

After looking at the old pic from the movie and this new one, I think they may have rethought the stitching it down used for Ep7 and gone away from that to the string for Ep8.

I say this because the way they line up just doesn't match from the one where he is pulling the hood off and this new, hi-res shot and there is no sign of the string in the first.

If I had to guess (and I suppose I do since no one will actually tell us how or why it was done a certain way Razz ), I would say they had trouble keeping it on in the wind and did a quick tack job to hold it from blowing off for the Ep7 scene and decided to go with the string method later due to him having much more screen time where the stitching would look pretty horrible due to the constant pulling on the tabbards and tunic/robe. I can say with 100% surety that the string method holds up to hours of wearing the cloak without any need to readjust the costume pieces (unless someone steps on your cloak tail...had that happen a few times at Visioncon).

Has anyone added this image yet?

I'm curious if we'll see this version on screen again. I like that the inner robes are shorter like his ROTJ costume and that this beard looks as though it's trimmed a bit different.

It took a while for his outfit to grow on me but it really has.

Yes. Smile That one is added to my album. I'll keep on adding as I find/get them.

Here are some shots from the Bonus features on the Bluray. This film looks spectacular in HD! Also note the belt pouch in the third and fourth picture, plus the texture of the fabrics in the last shot.
