Hi, I was wondering if anyone can explain to me why the Jabbas palace Luke costume needs to have a lightsaber. I have put most of this costume together, but the cost of a decent lightsaber is holding me back (it would cost more than the rest of the costume put together). I am doing the "hooded cloak" version, so it seems kind of pointless to be required to buy a lightsaber that would look out of place with the rest of the costume, given that the lightsaber is inside R2 while Luke is in the palace.

I guess I could try and borrow one for the purposes of approval pictures, but that seems kind of pointless. If I decide to go with a Death Star Duel variant, then I would get the belt and saber at that point.

Hoping someone can help out a poor moisture farmer.

Some of the high-end saber-makers offer the hilts minus electronics for a better price.

For example there's Saber Forge in the US:

or

Ultrasbers in the US:

If you are on super low budget, you can get a 3d-printed one on etsy:

The explanation for your question: that's the way the standard was written back in the day, but you do have a valid point. I've been thinking about proposing a revision of it.
