Our staging area is the parking lot next to the Niles Banquet Hall at the corner of Niles Blvd and Sullivan Underpass. 37270 Niles Blvd, Fremont, CA 94536
We are unit #44
The banquet hall is usually open for us to store items and change - it is not a private changing area, it is shared with other parade units. There is a restroom inside for anyone needing privacy but arrive early if you need to wait to use the restroom to change.
Parking: We can not use the staging area parking lot to park. You can use side streets in the area, or we have been directed to use the railroad depot at the corner of Mission Blvd and Sullivan Underpass. It fills up quickly, when I've arrived later in the past I have had to park farther down along mission blvd in the grass and walk quite a way to the Sullivan underpass. Limited Parking is also off Nursery Ave and there are public parking lots off Niles Blvd near Niles Merchant Train Car.
Reporting Time: Be aware that Niles Blvd and the surrounding staging streets close at 4:00. Our report time is 5:30
1) This is a light parade so battery powered light strands on the costume are highly encouraged.
You can purchase lights at places like Target, Walmart, and many hardware stores. Strands can be pinned on clothing, and the battery packs easily tuck into pants pockets, boots, etc.
2) This is a family friendly event so feel to bring your kids to march in costume. These costumes should be of a higher quality. They must have an adult member of one of the participating clubs marching with them and responsible for them at all times.
If you bring children to March, you you will need to fill out the 501st waiver form.
If you have an adult family member with a Star Wars costume who wishes to march with you the costume should be close to Rebel Legion quality and we just ask you to please post a photo of their costume for approval for this event that we are opening up to family members.
Print out the form here and bring it with you all filled out!!
I have a joint banner shipping tomorrow that says 501st & RL on it! So far I plan to attend as either Leia, a Pliot or Jedi (need to see what is workable) and probably making my nephew a Jedi costume to join with us as a cadet. _________________ Base Webmaster
I can attend in either TLJ Rey (likely not yet approved) or Jakku Rey. Would prefer TLJ Rey because of the layers
Do friends/family need to wear costumes too?
Yes, any "cadet" family members (this is typically kids) need to have a Star Wars costume (preferably not something 100% Rubies - something higher end) and if you are the adult watching them you have to march with them and be responsible for them. (There will be a waiver I need to post that the 501st needs minors to sign off on as well).
We've never really had adult family members march that are not part of an approve club, so I think I should ask for a photo of any adult in costume as again, it should be something pretty close to Rebel Legion caliber. _________________ Base Webmaster
Also kaydee i will bring a friend who has a generic jedi outfit too help out
Mitch - if your friend is an adult I'd just ask to see a photo of their costume since usually any adults in costume are from one of the major approved clubs Just needs to be something pretty close to Rebel Legion caliber. _________________ Base Webmaster
