I didn't see it myself until you posted those pics, but I think you're right - you can see in the photo without the painted-in lines that the hood edge on his right side (left of the photo) is kind of folded over like a collar, and abruptly ends before it comes to a point the way it would if the robe were a true pull-over.

I still want HD images, of course, but as more eyes see what's currently available, more answers (and ideas!) keep coming out about this.

I’m currently planning this. My first shot working with a full cloth costume.

Found a good Linen\Rayon blend. How many yards will I need. What’s the best way to determine since there aren’t any patterns.

Forgive my ignorance, I’m diving in so my questions may be stupid.

This looks amazing, Dawn!

Does anyone know if any vendors have begun to take commissions for the soft parts (tunic, etc)?

On this picture we see better the patterns of the coat and we can see that Luke is wearing a black obi.

I think I've got a fabric lying around somewhere that is a close match to the coat fabric. Hmm.

Great picture, btw. Smile

Excellent work, Dawn. Thank you for posting this, it will be a big help for me.

I made a TFA costume a couple of years ago that I pieced together various patterns to make it and it turned out quite well - I spent a lot of time at FanExpo in Toronto having my picture taken with some pretty awesome Rey’s, and Mark Hamill actually said “You look more like me than I do” when I went up to have my picture taken with him, so I’m pretty proud of that work.

But while I’m good enough to adjust patterns, I’m not good enough to come up with my own. So I’m wondering - are there any patterns for the coat and tunic in particular available anywhere that I can at least base my own patterns off of? I’d like to at least make this good enough to consider submitting it.

In the off chance anyone wants to see it, I’m including my picture with Mark. My all time favourite picture Very Happy

Nice find on the picture! Does anyone know what type of material the trench is though?

Looks like Bandai's new figure seems to have a nice somewhat look at his boots and a cleaner look if the lines on the tunic(I still think this thing is sleeveless)

Or it could some kind of linen or linen blend. The possibilities are many. Rolling Eyes

I think that studio shot makes it really clear that the tunic has sleeves that go to at least the elbow. I lightened the left arm section of that photo:

You can see a clear inner dark sleeve between the white shirt and the outer cape.

Dawn - I think you might have a typo in your CRL proposal regarding the leg wraps. You write that they end above the knee, but I think you mean below? I haven't seen anything (including your own photos) that shows the wraps extending that far up.

I just submitted my own version of this outfit yesterday - looking forward to hearing back about it!

So, here's a question.

I'm doing these robes without question, but Id like to mix it with my SaberForge Prodigal Son saber.

With the RotJ style saber, will there be a problem getting Legion Approval?

Actually if you alter a little bit of it I don't see why it wouldn't be approved. It seems and looks to me that Luke wore basically that outfit while he was teaching the younglings at his temple. Just instead of a black tunic or shirt he wore a white one and had the black robe and green lightsaber.
I need to find a better screen shot.

I would have to disagree- the saber used in the Crait scene is clearly the ANH/TFA style saber. The saber appears to be optional in the mock standard though, however my guess is the correct saber would be required. It seems likely that the ROTJ esque style saber would be approvable for the flash-back style costume.

Yes, the flashback version is what I meant. I agree, still I've been playing with the images and bringing up the brightness, contrast and all that, trying to get a better idea of just what he wore and if it was his ROTJ saber in that flashback. (The hilt is almost completely blocked by his hands but the focusing ring and emitter seem to be thicker at first look. Still need to focus in on the saber more to be sure though but I think it's basically his ROTJ saber maybe with a few new parts to it since he had a few decades to fiddle with the thing.)
