For some reason I think of those every year about this time.
Kathy van Beuningen was the only one I was aware of that made them

And they're a very good design. There's an internal Velcro band for adjustment. I haven't given mine much wear yet because I'm holding out for goggles, but the hat seems to be pretty solid and durable.
