Alright, noted! I'll post the updated standards in a bit, based on all the recent notes.

I've updated the proposal to include a broader range of accepted colors for the shirts and pants, and added the RFT belt as an option. I left the action pleat on the jacket in place because I agree that we do have evidence they were included on the background jackets.

Propose: Yavin Operations Officer, Rouge One

Jacket:
-Coyote Brown, Medium Brown or Olive Brown heavy canvas jacket.
-Sleeves have “blood stripe” detail (printed, suede, embroidered, or similar) from shoulder to cuff. Darker brown jackets have tan stripes, and lighter brown jackets have darker brown stripes.
-Jacket has a mandarin collar with 6 lines of topstitching on the collar.
-The waistband also has 6 lines of topstitching.
-There are left and right breast pockets, with a flap on the left-hand pocket only. Pocket should have no visible securing snaps or buttons.
-Screen-accurate top stitching and pockets on the front and “action pleat” on the back of the shoulders.
-Screen-accurate compad inset above the left breast pocket.

Optional: Contrasting front yoke.

Pants:
-Khaki or brown colored utility trousers.
-Pant ankles should be worn tucked into boots/boot toppers.

Optional: Cargo-style pockets along the outside of each leg, with top flap, and no visible closure buttons or snaps. Elastic cuffs at the ankles.

Shirt:
-Long sleeved, tan, beige or middle brown shirt with a collar ending in two points.
-Front has a rectangular bib with seams on the bottom and both sides which (recommended) continue down to bottom of hem.
-Double rows of stitching (flat-felled or similar) in each seam is recommended.
-Optional back yoke.
-Worn tucked into the pants.

Belt:
Option 1:
PLCE belt in tan or olive. Belt closure should be roll pin-style or silver buckle with accurate greeblie.

Optional: silver screen-accurate “energy pellets” tucked into the loops on the belt.

Option 2:
Brown belt with octagonal silver buckle consistent with the RFT belts.

Boots:
Option 1:
-Dark brown leather (or leather-like) lace-up combat boots with two matching flaps covering the laces.
-Bottom flap of boot has screen-accurate buckle. The buckle’s bail (wire piece) is attached with a loop of leather sewn into the flap. The ‘box’ parts of the buckle are black and the ‘wire’ parts are silver.
-No visible zippers, but discrete inside zippers are permitted.

(Screen used boots are Frye “Sutton Tall” boots)

Option 2:
-Chelsea-style boot in brown or black leather (can be suede).
-No visible laces.

Rank Badge:
Screen accurate rebel rank badge worn on the right side of jacket, just above breast pocket. Badge should reflect rank of the costumer's choice below General.

Optional:
Era-appropriate Alliance used sidearm and holster such as:
-A180 Pistol
-BlasTech DH-17
-BlasTech DL-44

I really like where all this is going.

I would love to do one of these, but I've had qualms about going "full Cassian".

Three questions:

1) Jacket: Would an actual Cassian jacket (i.e., Anovos, if they every actually ship the darned things) be acceptable, or is the specific to Cassian?

2) Boots: Would the brown Po-Zu boots worn by so many others in the more recent movies work for these characters, or is a different boot mandated? The general description

3) Rank: Is there an official RL-approved rank chart? I'm honestly not familiar enough with what they all mean to judge, aside from more dots=higher rank, and I assume 5 is the max rank. (But is 5 dots General? Or Admiral? What is 4 dots?)

The Cassian jacket would work in my opinion-- as long as it has all the items listed in the standards. There are some that do not, and are more Cassian inspired. The PoZu boots? Those I'm not so sure about. Personally, I'd say no. They are new trilogy, and the Chelsea boots worn in the OT are fairly inexpensive and easily attainable if people don't want to go the modded combat boot way.

Ok, no worries on the boots. I have stuff that will work either way, just the PoZu boots are "one and done" and need zero extra work. Smile

Thanks for the rank listing. What about the rank that's 4 dots, one in each corner? I know I've seen that one somewhere...

The image above is R1 specific from the visual guide, so definitely cannon for these costumes.

Marie posted this one for the OT on another thread, and while also not from a cannon source, it's accepted for OT generics:

Here's an interesting analysis of all the crazy inconsistencies, but it's not from a cannon writer, so keep that in mind:

This is great! I really like Cassian's costume, but know there's no way I can pull of any face characters, so having a generic option is fantastic. I'll be following this thread with interest, and this may be my next costume after I finish my X-Wing pilot. Very Happy

We forgot one color option for the jackets. The old major that is seen with general Draven wears the same blue jacket as private Basteren. The jacket is blue with grayish or blueisch stripes. It has a tan/khaki collar and waistband with adjustable straps. The jacket also as a tan/khaki yoke on the front of the shoulders but not on the back of the shoulders.

Updated to add jacket color and consolidate the browns. Really most browns fall in the range, so there is no reason to list them all. The yoke is already listed as an option.

Propose: Yavin Operations Officer, Rouge One

Jacket:
-Grey-blue, brown, or olive heavy canvas jacket.
-Sleeves have “blood stripe” detail (printed, suede, embroidered, or similar) from shoulder to cuff. Darker brown jackets have tan stripes, and lighter brown jackets have darker brown stripes.

The CS looks good. I think we have everything that needs to be in there. What is the next step to get the CS approved and online?

I think we wait a little to make sure no one else has comments, and then I’ll send it to Marie and Tom. They will post a vote if they agree it is ready. Then, if it passes it goes to the Costume Standards Committee. There is an opportunity for comments there, and then it goes to the queue for posting.

Do you want to specify arm stripe colors for the gray-blue and olive jackets? This mentions the colors that go with the brown.

Should any guidelines be included for the holster? Maybe it doesn’t matter since it’s optional anyway.

Otherwise this is looking great to me. I like the consistency with the Cassian standard for the similar parts but with plenty of room for variation, and it leaves some elements specific to Cassian which I appreciate as a Cassian judge.

I added a bit to specify the colors for the bloodstripes on the jacket sleeves for the olive and grey-blue. In all of the references I've seen the bloodstripes are the same tan as on the darker brown jackets.

As far as the holster goes, I think any era appropriate one is ok?

Propose: Yavin Operations Officer, Rouge One

Jacket:
-Grey-blue, brown, or olive heavy canvas jacket.

Yeah I think wiggle room on the holster is fine, especially since they'll have so many options for the blaster itself.

The standards look GREAT to me sofar, loving how this is turning out, and its such a thrill to see it all finally coming together.

I agree with leaving some leeway with the holsters. I have four different holsters for my DH-17 and only one looks exactlx the way it should look like for a RFT ANH. Some maker have problems creating exact replicas of holsters.
