Things are looking good! And by good, I mean scuffed up from kicking Stormtrooper butt.

These are the buckles for Jyn's boots. Paint is Rustoleum camouflage black, which was followed by hitting the edges with some silver drybrushing to help the detail pop and give that "battling the empire" worn look.

Okay, not gonna lie... really excited about the tonfa turned out - battle worn and grungy. It's obviously spent quality time beating on some bucket heads Very Happy

Body of the tonfa is Rustoleum camouflage black with silver dry brushing to give that worn look.

Hook and handle airbrushed with Testors Model Masters Metalizer, buffed & sealed, then aged with black and burnt sienna acrylics.

Tonfa wand airbrushed at the ends with black and brown acrylics.

3D print by 3DPropWorx

Kinda want to throw on my gloves and run around the house swinging this thing around.

From one Jyn to another.... Looks a great start.

Believe me, I know this costume is a nightmare. I come over to Florida pretty regularly (WDW AP) but if you need any of the random stuff that's used, I can always bring any spares with me and mail them. I have a couple of spare hooks for the vest if you need one.

Looking awesome.

Thanks Chris! Yes, this costume looks deceptively simple at first glance - until you really LOOK at the details. SO. MANY. DETAILS. (But I love that crazy stuff).

That's such a generous offer, I really appreciate it! I THINK I have all the bits and pieces I need to finish this project at this point (famous last words, right?!) The only things left on my shopping list are some leather working tools, dye and rivets.

I was just popping in here post up some recent progress photos, so feel free let me know if anything looks off or odd. =)

Thanks again!

After a bit (as in way too long) hiatus from this project, it's back to work.

Got my hands on the belt blank and leather I'll need to do Jyn's belt, holster and boot flaps, so check that off the list.

Patterning WIP images below - started with paper and moved to EVA craft foam of the same thickness as the leather to confirm fit and sizing before moving to the final leather versions.

FINALLY got my hands on a pair of the screen accurate Frye boots for Jyn!

Patterning out the pair of boot flaps in paper, then EVA foam before moving to the final leather versions.

Progress!

Wow, those boots are beautiful, even before the modifications! I gotta say, you're approaching this like a true professional and taking no chances. I'm very, very impressed with your WIP on this one, and I can't wait to be one of your Scarif Rebel Spec Ops Marine Commando Whatevers to back you up at cons and troops!

Aww, thanks Troy! So nice!
And YES!!! The boots are so beautiful and I love them and it will be PHYSICALLY PAINFUL to weather and scuff these to be accurate.
I'm really looking forward to getting this finished and getting out there and trooping with you guys (especially the Scarif Marines ) Smile

You shouldn't need to weather and scuff them. That will happen the first time you wear them to a troop! Smile

That costume is really coming along, looking forward to seeing how everything turns out when it is all weathered up and ready to submit!

I disagree. If the CRLs and supporting images call for the items to be weathered then they should, as they would be getting approval before the "first troop weathering" would even occur Smile

Overall you are looking quite wonderful & I can't wait to see this finished; you're going to look awesome. I understand the pain of weathering something so pretty, though. It's always tough but once it's done the item's got a whole new charm to it Smile
