I am still working on this project. I have been having difficulties with adjusting jacket patterns to my size but I am not giving up of this costume or the trooper version yet. I just need to find a good base pattern in my size and then improve my pattern adjusting skills until I can finish making the jacket. Perhaps I will try to learn how to make my own patterns. I do not know yet. It might take years and I might work on other projects for a while because I am frustrated with this one but I will not give up.

I found an affordable khaki-colored heavy work jacket with an action pleat. I hope to be able to convert it into a Yavin Operations Officer Jacket. I am planning on using a tan fabric for the optional contrasting front yoke to cover the top buttonhole. I will use 10mm wide brown grosgrain ribbon for blood stripes since the CS says that "lighter brown jackets have darker brown stripes".

I think we made a mistake when wrote the CS. We should not only permit heavy canvas jackets. Instead, we should permit heavy canvas jackets and heavy twill jackets. As far as I know, Magnoli Clothiers is the only source for a Cassian Andor jacket that is made out of canvas fabric. All the other sources seem to use twill. It can also be very difficult to find a heavy canvas fabric that is suitable for sewing a jacket. On the other hand, it is less difficult to find a heavy twill fabric for work clothes to make a jacket.

Anya and I have also had this conversation, and we both agree with you. I absolutely agree that twill should be listed as an acceptable fabric.

The jacket you have above looks like it will work really well for modifications! I'm so excited to see you found such a great base to work with.

I am very happy that I found this jacket. I actually have two. One is an EU size 26 that I bought for 3.61 Euros on Amazon. Unfortunately, it was about three sizes too small. Then I found the same jacket in the EU size 29 for 22.70 Euros on eBay. I am planning on taking the smaller jacket apart to get the extra fabric that I will need for some of the changes.

The jacket is a Planam BW 290 "Bundjacke" in the color khaki. It is made out of 290 g/m² cotton twill. You can order it at Amazon.de, eBay.de and other places that sell work clothing. It is also available in two shades of blue but I do not know if one of them would be the right color for the blue officer jacket.

Do you mind me asking where you got the rank badge? It’s super nice! Smile

Thank you for the compliment. The rank badge was made by Klaus Windstoßer, a member of the German Garrison. He has a shop on Facebook that is called Klaus' Frässtüberl. Here is the link.

Yes seconded, it's looking good Smile

We can add the rank badges to the rank badge resource bit.

Thank you so much for sharing your sources and keeping updated build threads, Patricia. It makes it so much easier for others who may be interested in completing similar builds later. Smile

My pleasure! I like sharing my knowledge. I guess that is one of the reasons I am studying to become a teacher. Smile

The CS states that "lighter brown jackets have darker brown stripes". I think my khaki jacket falls into that category. Now I have a question? What is the correct color for the contrasting yoke? At first, I thought brown blood stripes and a tan yoke would work on a khaki jacket. Then I thought it would be better if the blood stripes and the yoke have a similar color but we do not have a reference for a darker yoke on this type of jacket. Next, I thought I
should make my jacket similar to the blue jacket, which is our only reference for the contrasting yoke, but it does not only have tan blood stripes and a tan yoke it also has a tan collar and waistband but that is not mentioned in the CS. I have no clue what color I should use because we never defined the color relation between the contrasting yoke, the blood stripes and the jacket itself. I could try to duplicate the blue jacket and have khaki where it should be blue but the CS does not permit tan blood stripes on a light brown jacket. I would prefer a contrasting yoke to cover the buttonhole to switching out the whole left yoke. I am afraid that I would not get everything to line up correctly if I have to take to much of the jacket apart.

The tan jackets had blood stripes down the arms that are a few shades darker than the tan, not a lot. BUT the stripes are on a panel that's a few shades lighter than the regular jacket fabric, so they pop a bit more. That's the best way I can think to describe it.

The shoulder yoke is slightly different; more of a yellowish tan, somewhat similar to what you used for your R1 Senior Officer's yoke.

I'd need to see a photo of all your samples together in one photo, overlapping, to opine further.

Yes, the tan jackets had blood stripes that were a couple of shades darker than the jacket itself. I do not think that the panel under the blood stripes is a different shade than the jacket. I think it just looks that way because of the contrast.

The only Yavin Operations Officer/Trooper jackets that have contrasting yokes are the blue jackets. They have tan yokes, tan collars, and tan waistbands. I do not think you can compare them to the jackets of the Senior Officer because they only had contrasting yoke but the collar had the same color as the rest of the jacket.

I have a photo of my jacket, the fabric for the yoke and the ribbon for the blood stripes that I took a couple of weeks ago before I started taking the pockets of.

Edit:
I think my jackets color is similar to this Scarif Marine's jacket. His jacket seems to be a darker tan or khaki and he has tan blood stripes. Lieutenant Sefla and Corporal Maddel's jackets are a lighter color than the other his. It is more of a yellowish-tan. Lieutenant Sefla jacket has darker blood stripes. We cannot see if Corporal Maddel's jackets has any blood stripes at all.
