Hello from East Tennessee, Newport actually!

My name is Shane and my friends call me Percival, I made a forums account on Feb 14 2018 and immediately started asking questions and work on my Generic Jedi outfit.

However when coming close to being able to submit for official membership approval my luck took a turn and I woke up unable to walk, unable to dress myself and over the course of a week I lost 34 lbs (this took a direct hit on my costume by the way) and I was in constant pain.

The Dr did a lot of lab work and my kidneys and liver started shutting down and they sent me to Hematologist because I had developed bone marrow loss in my femur. The results was stable, however I now permanent nerve damage in the leg and 3 herniated disk in my back they said I would most likely be crippled. (welcome to old age when so young I mean 45 is way to young to be out of it like this).

I share this story because I was walking with a cane and now I am under my own power again! I am walking, sitting and able to drive and all I want to do is get myself into my costume and troop away!

The issue is that I lost so much weight I have to take in my costume a lot and figure out a more simple way to utilize a back brace (Which I am thinking of going to old Ben Jedi as this would probably work best).

I wanted to be ready before Fanboy Expo but do not know for sure if I can be, however my main focus is getting approved.

I am looking to opening my place up to anyone local that wants to help build there costumes and props, I was working on my MMCC supplies and 501st stuff but would be willing to do a build knight if anyone else is local and wants to brain storm together and get building for approval.

My long term goal as is not only to troop and help others is to continue my work in the astromech builders group, join the MMCC and 501st and open an Galactic Academy in my area! First though I have to finish my costume and my daughters Sabine outfit as she is 17 and is looking to join when she turns 18.

Anyone interested in a group/solo build night PM me, maybe if close I can join you at one of yours (don’t really know who is close or not in Tennessee, see most of your troop stuff is in Kentucky but worth a shot.)

I will be approved hopefully soon I got my boots, belt, food caps, pouches, saber (static Prop) and clip along with tunic, obi and Tabards, jut need to redo my shirt and I really want a cloak so that is next then dye everything that is needed and get pants so I am almost there.

I am really looking forward to grouping with you all and if anyone has any advice or pointers I am all ears!! Literally people say that they are big lol.

Sounds like you've had some trials. Glad your still kicking arse! I look forward to trooping with you.

I'm down for a a build night/day. I've hosted a few myself. I'm not much of a seamstress; my gf will be teaching how to sew later this summer for a pirate costume. So I probably won't be much help with your costume fixes.

There also a monthly maker night on Wednesdays once a month at the Make Nashville maker space.
