I have to disagree with the proposal to move the date (at least to a holiday weekend) the benefits of a longer weekend are nearly guaranteed to be offset by the increased number of vehicles traveling up the Hill. Whether going up 80 or, even worse, 50 (in heavy traffic, it can easily take well over an hour just to pass through Placerville alone), the congestion and travel times will greatly inflate, as will the number of people at any likely photo site.

Absolutely! There is a Facebook Event posting that might help too:

Oh! Super important point! Thank you, Terran.

Update - Location is also tentatively going to be at Pickett’s junction. For everyone who wants to go please be sure to rsvp at the FB event page for this.

Also look to carpool. You might need chains.

Hi everyone, many of us have had to withdraw from this shoot, myself included. Transportation/chains/carpooling plans have not materialized and people have trooping commitments the days before and after on this weekend.

***PLEASE CLICK UNREGISTER IF YOU ARE NO LONGER ATTENDING***
So that members who still want to do this can get an accurate picture of who is still available and can participate in a group messenger chat.

I still hope we can coordinate an ESB snow shoot sometime soon! March 16-17 maybe?

MTFBWY~

I really would like to do this but I'm doing events on Friday and Sunday and don't have chains or snow tires. Not relishing being stuck on the side of the road in Truckee. I'd be interested in a reschedule and discussion of carpooling and coordination options.

Also, Dodge Ridge and Leland High Sierra Snow Play are probably the closest snow to the bay area. The San Francisco chronicle reported that this is one of the few regions with snow sports that you do not have to drive over a mountain pass to reach.

I don't know what kind of background everybody needs for the pictures they had in mind, but snow is snow and trees are trees. If somebody has been to these places and there is no where to go off the beaten path away from swarms of kids and people, then I understand, but I am definitely throwing out there - shorter and easier drive.

Thank you.

I unfortunately need to back out as well, I'm with the idea of it being moved to March and I currently do not have a car so it would be hard for me to coordinate. I will unregister now and hope we can get the date moved

I'll be moving houses so I don't know if I can commit, but interested in doing this if it is moved out.

Currently the forecast for this weekends snow-shoot is bleak.
It isn't canceled *yet* but very well may be.

In any event a follow-up shoot in March is already being looked into.

ATTENTION:

SNOWSTORM forecast for Saturday.
Calling it off now.
There's no need to keep stringing this out.

For now, March 9 seems like a good candidate for rescheduling.
