Solas Teev comes from a Corellian family used to public service, and his duties as a Jedi carried on the same tradition on a larger scale. Due to intemperance of youth, he never passed his Jedi trials, and was transferred to EduCorps. There he survived Order 66 by dint of being located in a distant fringe system, assisting with developing schools for the backwater worlds. With the birth of the New Republic Jedi Order, he returned to transmit the lessons of the past to the students of the future.
