Turtles, as we get closer to Awesomecon it’s become apparent that there are significant obstacles to overcome that we will need to address in the coming weeks. First and foremost, your health, comfort, and wellbeing is most important to us. If you are no longer comfortable attending please know it’s ok to remove yourself from the sign up sheet, no ill will or hard feelings, it would in fact be very helpful to us as we make hard decisions on what cuts and rearranging needs to happen. Please take time to review the spreadsheet and make any changes you feel are necessary for yourself and if you still plan to attend ensure you have followed the instructions for the minimum volunteer hours required to earn a badge so we can accurately assess our staffing needs.

Joint leadership from all the clubs has decided we will not cancel directly due to covid unless the convention cancels or new health restrictions are imposed by local government that force cancellation, we believe over the past year and half everyone has had the opportunity to learn, to make educated decisions on what amount of risk you are willing to assume, and to take preventative measures (eg get vaccinated) and we ask that you exercise the decision that is right for you personally. That being said we have a brief survey to gauge where everyone is at and that will help inform us on how to proceed.

The likely road forward, unless significant numbers of people step up and take on more volunteer duties, is that we will cut certain rolls that are either duplicative or are not directly involved in promoting our clubs and soliciting charitable donations. We implore people to voluntarily change roles to support blast-a-trooper and the charity table, if that does not happen leadership will reassign people to fill the needs to ensure our booth will be as effective as possible. The reason we go to these conventions is to promote ourselves and support charity - the associated jobs are not always the easiest ones or the most “fun” ones but at the end of the day they are the most impactful ones. We understand these are unprecedented times and these are decisions and things we would normally not have to ask of you all and know they are not being made lightly. If you do need to remove yourself from the schedule, please delete your name from each of the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shift schedules individually no later than Wednesday August 11 (deleting your name from the main tab will NOT automatically remove your name from the daily shift-schedule pages).

Now is the time to step up and make this happen but we need your help carrying this over the finish line. We’ve been given more space and comped badges than we’ve ever received, and are being promoted as part of the “fanthropy” section of the convention. We have charity representatives coming from City Dogs to promote their organization and to receive the donations we raise. We have some amazing silent auction prizes donated from every club. We’d like to avoid making the difficult decisions as much as possible but without staffing where it needs to be we will have to begin prioritizing our needs. Thank you and please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns privately or publicly.

Today is the absolute last day to send funds if you want to attend the group dinner.

We have a couple of slots left for BaT and the charity table that need coverage if anyone is available.

What is your favorite cheese?

Also, if anyone knows Wanda Tulay please have her contact the GCO of OLG.
