Hey all! I started working on Guri months ago but put it on hold when one of my fabrics wasn't working as well as I wanted. since then, I've acquired a replacement and restarted work!

My first task was patterning. This is a challenge for a few reasons:
1) the quilted sections change shape and size from comic panel to panel
2) Her suit is skin tight, no real bagginess
3) quilting spandex tends to ruin the stretchiness

Ultimately I decided to go with the "Hero" version of the suit:

So I ordered a cheap zentai suit and had a friend draw the color blocks on. Boots pictured are the one's I'll be wearing.

I started out using 4 way stretch suede and a ponte knit with quilt batting. I discovered pretty fast that even when I added extra allowance for the loss of stretch,my movement would be hindered no matter how nice it looked due to how skin tight it is. And the ponte was not high quality and was kind of scratchy and a bit dark. Here's what it looked like before.

After that I put it away for about 6 months till I found some football spandex in the right shade. I decided to reattempt the quilting without batting, so I started out with a single leg to see if I could pull it off.

Old purple on top of new:

First Leg:

Lo And behold, without batting the quilting worked! I can both fit my leg and bend it! So one to go.

Last thing I got was a wig. This is a ferrari from Arda in Champagne. Her hair should technically be a little more yellow, but my hairdresser advised me to go the ashy route so that it goes better with my olive undertones in my skin.
